Lovato BF0910A230 9 A Three-Pole Contactor 230 V AC Coil
Description
A compact 9 A contactor for motor and resistive loads
The BF0910A230 is a three-pole IEC contactor from the Lovato Electric BF series. It is rated 9 A in category AC-3, which is 4.2 kW at 400 V for a squirrel-cage motor, and 25 A in AC-1 for resistive loads at 40 degC. The coil takes 230 V AC at 50 or 60 Hz, and one normally open auxiliary contact is built in for self-holding or signalling.
It mounts on 35 mm DIN rail or by screws, which makes it a typical choice for pump starters, fan and compressor motors, and heater switching in small panels. It combines with Lovato SM1P motor protection circuit breakers through rigid connection kits, and with RF thermal overload relays, to form complete direct-on-line starters.

Using the BF09 in a starter
The BF series contactors share one accessory range: auxiliary contact blocks, mechanical interlocks, timed auxiliary contacts and noise filters. A thermal overload such as the Lovato RF series mounts directly under the contactor, or a motor protection circuit breaker can be linked to it for a compact starter. Lovato lists B10d values of 2 million cycles at rated load and 20 million for mechanical load for safety-related calculations.
At 230 V AC the BF09 coil needs only 9 VA to hold, so panel heat from a bank of contactors stays low. Where the control voltage is 24 V or 110 V, other coil versions of the BF09 exist in the same family; the order code ends in the coil code.
What to confirm before ordering
Confirm the coil voltage, the number and type of auxiliary contacts (the BF0910A230 has one normally open), the motor current and starting duty, and the ambient temperature of the panel, because the AC-1 current falls from 25 A to 18 A between 40 and 70 degC. Related published items include the ABB AF09-30-10-11 contactor; the full contactors and overload relays category lists more.
Documents and quotation
The Lovato leaflet on motor starting solutions (document PD116, 2022 edition) is attached; it shows how BF09 contactors combine with SM motor protection circuit breakers and RF relays. Full electrical data for this exact code appears on the Lovato catalogue page used for the table above. Send the order code, quantity and delivery location through the quotation form for availability from Seven Star LLC.
