Lovato DMG8000 Power Analyzer with Colour LCD and Ethernet

Description

A class 0.2 power analyzer with Ethernet and PLC logic

The DMG8000 is a panel-mounted power analyzer from Lovato Electric with a widescreen colour LCD, three-phase-plus-neutral measurement and an Ethernet port. It measures voltage and current with Class 0.2 accuracy (IEC/EN 61557-12), active power with Class 0.5 and active energy with Class 0.5s, and analyses harmonics up to the 63rd order.

The auxiliary supply is 100-240 VAC or 110-250 VDC, the voltage inputs are rated 600 VAC line-to-line and 347 VAC line-to-neutral, and current inputs accept 1 A or 5 A secondaries from current transformers.

What to confirm before ordering

Choose the DMG8000 when power quality is part of the job: harmonic content, logged data and a network connection to a supervisory system. Simpler meters in the DMG range cover plain voltage, current and energy readings at lower cost.

The analyzer is expandable with EXP modules for extra outputs, inputs and a second communication interface; confirm which module codes you need and that they fit in the three expansion slots listed by the manufacturer.

Where it fits

Typical installations are main switchboards, generator sets, industrial feeders and data-centre or utility sub-stations where Class 0.2 accuracy and logged data support energy audits.

It fits a panel cut-out, terminals are removable for easy replacement, and the housing finish is Xantar RAL 7035.

For panel design and commissioning, the practical figures to keep at hand are: rated current (Ie) 1A/5A; measurement range 0.004-6; overload capacity +20% Ie by external CT with 5A secondary; overload peak 120A for 0.5s; VLN voltage Class 0.2 (IEC/EN 61557-12), V:50-480V~; VLL voltage Class 0.2 (IEC/EN 61557-12), V:87-830V~; current Class 0.2 (IEC/EN 61557-12), In:5A~; frequency Class 0.02 (IEC/EN 61557-12); active power Class 0.5 (IEC/EN 61557-12); reactive energy Class 1 (IEC/EN 62053-24); housing type Xantar RAL 7035; terminals type Removable; protection degree IP65; operating temperature (min) -20 °C. These come straight from the datasheet and are repeated here so that the key installation limits are visible without opening the PDF.

About brand

Lovato Electric is the Italian manufacturer of low-voltage electrical components for industrial automation and power distribution: contactors, motor protection circuit breakers, soft starters, variable speed drives, power factor controllers, transfer switch and generator controllers, and energy meters. It was founded in Bergamo in 1922 and has been run by the same family for four generations. Its headquarters is in Gorle, near Bergamo, and it celebrated its centenary in 2022.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Lovato motor control, drives and power management products, and supply them to panel builders, contractors and maintenance teams in Oman and the GCC by order code.

Lovato order codes describe the product. On a contactor such as BF0910A230, "BF09" is the frame and rated current (9 A in AC-3), "10" is the built-in auxiliary contact (one normally open), "A" means an AC coil and "230" is the coil voltage. The coil voltage must match the control circuit exactly, so it is the most common detail to check when replacing one. For motors, a soft starter limits the inrush current at start and stop, while a variable speed drive controls the speed continuously and saves energy on pumps and fans that do not need full flow all the time.

Where Lovato products are used

In Oman and the GCC, Lovato components are built into motor control centres, pump and HVAC panels, capacitor banks for power factor correction, generator and ATS panels, and machine control panels for industry, water and buildings.
