Wolf Safety LinkEx WF-250XL LED Floodlite

Description

Portable ATEX floodlight for confined spaces and small hazardous work areas

The Wolf Safety LinkEx WF-250XL is a portable LED floodlight for temporary lighting in potentially explosive atmospheres. Wolf designed it to give the right level of light in smaller hazardous areas and confined spaces, using a patented light engine, and notes that up to eight units can run from a single 400 VA Wolf transformer, which suits 24 volt work with a limited power supply.

It is certified under ATEX and IECEx for gas Zones 1 and 2 and dust Zones 21 and 22. Both low-voltage and high-voltage versions are offered, and both can be fitted with linkable sockets so several lights can be daisy-chained.

Safety features, supply and installation

Wolf describes a Safe Optimal Voltage Indicator, called SOVI, that alerts the user if the light is running outside its certified and optimal voltage range. Both LV and HV units are described as safe down to 0 volts.

The frame is 316 stainless steel, the enclosure is marine-grade aluminium and the lens is toughened, scratch- and chemical-resistant glass, chosen for environments with a high risk of mechanical damage. LED life is protected by heat dissipation through built-in fins and electronic control.

Select the LV model where lights are fed from a Wolf transformer through a distribution system, and the HV model where a suitable mains supply is available. Count the lights on each transformer against the stated limit and use certified cable assemblies and splitter boxes only.

Place the floodlight with the stand or bridle so the glass is not exposed to impact, avoid blocking the finned housing, and follow the instruction manual published by Wolf for cable entry, earthing and inspection intervals.

About brand

Wolf Safety is a Sheffield manufacturer of ATEX and IECEx certified lighting for hazardous areas, with a history in mining safety lamps going back more than a century. Its portable, temporary, installed and area luminaires are used by maintenance, inspection and shutdown teams working where flammable gas, vapour or dust may be present.

Hazardous-area lighting ranges

The Wolf Safety catalogue covers rechargeable handlamps and torches, headtorches, linkable temporary floodlights and luminaires, tank lighting kits, installed linear, floodlight, highbay and bulkhead luminaires, and towerlite area lights. Supporting products include ATEX transformers, splitter boxes, cable reels, extension cables and ventilation fans.

Certification and application

Wolf Safety publishes ATEX, IECEx and UKEX certificates alongside its datasheets, so buyers can check the zone, gas group and temperature class before a lamp is issued to a work crew. Typical uses include tank and vessel entry, plant turnarounds, refinery and offshore inspection rounds, and emergency lighting where a hazardous atmosphere is possible.

Sourcing through Seven Star LLC

Seven Star LLC supplies Wolf Safety lighting to customers in Oman and the GCC and can quote against the datasheet model, voltage and zone requirements of each project.
