Brand:

Cortem LIFEX-M Ex LED Linear Lighting Fixture

Description

Native LED linear luminaire for hazardous corridors, plant rooms and offshore decks

The Cortem LIFEX-M is a linear LED luminaire in extruded aluminium for hazardous areas. Cortem describes it as the first native LED linear fixture of its range, designed to be compact, light and easy to install or retrofit, with a bracket system that has no fixed fixing distance and lets the luminaire be rotated by minus 30, 0 or plus 30 degrees.

The range comes in two versions. The LifEx-ME is marked II 2GD Ex db eb mb IIC T.. Gb and Ex tb IIIC T..°C Db for Zones 1, 2, 21 and 22. The LifEx-MN is marked II 3G Ex nR IIC T.. Gc with the same dust marking, for Zones 2, 21 and 22. Both are rated IP66, and Cortem states that the fixtures have passed vibration, surge and soft-start tests beyond the minimum standards.

Selection table highlights (ME version)

Cortem tabulates real power, rated power, supply voltage, temperature class, lumen output, efficiency and weight for each code. The following rows are taken from the ME table at 40 degrees C ambient.

Code Real power Supply Lumens Temp. class / surface Length
LifEx-ME-0315 13.9 W 220-240 V 1,865 lm T6 / 57 °C 541 mm
LifEx-ME-0630 26.2 W 110-277 V 3,677 lm T6 / 80 °C 840 mm
LifEx-ME-0660 54.5 W 110-277 V 8,011 lm T5 / 95 °C 840 mm
LifEx-ME-1230 29.0 W 110-277 V 4,112 lm T6 / 60 °C 1,398 mm
LifEx-ME-1290 79.3 W 120-277 V 12,228 lm T5 / 89 °C 1,398 mm
LifEx-ME-12120 102.6 W 220-277 V 16,029 lm T5 / 91 °C 1,398 mm
LifEx-ME-1590 78.6 W 120-277 V 11,926 lm T5 / 89 °C 1,738 mm

The code logic reads as length (03 for 300 mm, 06 for 600 mm, 12 for 1200 mm, 15 for 1500 mm) followed by power. Suffixes N, E, NH and EH select normal plus emergency, emergency only, and the -60 degree C battery-heater versions.

Options and installation points

Cortem offers a pole fastening mechanism, a protective cage, coloured LED strips, a battery box for easier emergency battery replacement, wiring-through versions, DALI dimming on request, and cable glands, plugs and Fast-Ex electrical connectors. Emergency units use a Ni-MH battery of 1.8 or 3 Ah with a green charge indicator.

Check the temperature class against the highest local ambient, because the surface temperature rises with ambient and with power. Install to EN 60079-14, use glands and plugs that carry the same certification, and keep the certificate with the plant records.

About brand

Cortem is an Italian manufacturer of electrical equipment for environments with a risk of explosion and fire. Cortem S.p.A., the main company of Cortem Group, was founded in 1968 in Villesse, Italy, and the group today supplies industrial plants, offshore platforms, refineries and shipyards with certified products for hazardous areas.

Explosion-protected product range

The catalogue covers junction boxes in aluminium, stainless steel and GRP, control and command stations, metal cable glands and connectors, plugs and sockets, LED floodlights, linear and high-bay luminaires, hand lamps, signalling and obstruction lights, and weatherproof series equipment. Products are certified to ATEX and IECEx, with UKEX and other schemes available according to the model.

Applications and documentation

Typical sectors named by the company include oil and gas, chemical and pharmaceutical plants, mining, shipbuilding and traditional and green energy. Each product family has a datasheet with the marking, zones, temperature classes and certificate numbers, so the equipment can be matched to a hazardous area classification before ordering.

Sourcing through Seven Star LLC

Seven Star LLC supplies Cortem products to customers in Oman and the GCC and quotes against the model code, zone and certificate requirement.
