Wolf Safety LHX1 Highbay Hazardous Area LED Highbay Light
Description
Ceiling-mounted LED highbay for large hazardous halls and process buildings
The Wolf Safety LHX1 Highbay is a ceiling-mounted LED luminaire for lighting large hazardous areas from height. Wolf certifies the LHX range to ATEX, IECEx and UKEX for gas Zone 1 and dust Zone 21 and describes it as suitable for indoor and outdoor use, with an IP67 rating.
The LHX1 is the small housing and has 12 or 16 LEDs. It uses the same optical and electrical platform as the LFX Floodlite, but it is supplied for hanging or ceiling fixing rather than for aiming from a wall bracket, with hanging brackets available as an accessory. Typical locations are compressor halls, workshops, loading bays and covered process structures.

Power and light output depend on the reference. Maximum lumen output is quoted at 230 VAC.
| Reference | Input power | Max lumens | Upper ambient limit |
|---|---|---|---|
| LHX1S-12-55 | 67.5 W | 9,724 lm | 55 °C |
| LHX1S-12-65 | 45 W | 6,483 lm | 65 °C |
| LHX1S-16-45 | 90 W | 12,996 lm | 45 °C |
| LHX1S-16-55 | 60 W | 8,644 lm | 55 °C |
The same datasheet lists the large LHX2 housing with 24 or 32 LEDs, up to 25,932 lumens, and a weight of 15.5 kg. Wolf states that LHX1S units are not provided with through wiring unless the customer specifies it.
Planning a highbay installation
At mounting heights of several metres a luminaire has to be accessed for cleaning and eventual servicing, so plan access equipment and isolation arrangements at the design stage. A narrower beam reaches the floor with more intensity from a high mounting point, while a wide optic gives smoother coverage under a lower roof.
Ask for the IES file to model uniformity and illuminance levels before ordering, and select the reference whose upper ambient limit exceeds the hottest expected temperature near the roof, where warm air collects. Use certified cable entries, keep the fixing suspended load within the capacity of the structure, and follow the Wolf manual for installation.

About brand
Wolf Safety is a Sheffield manufacturer of ATEX and IECEx certified lighting for hazardous areas, with a history in mining safety lamps going back more than a century. Its portable, temporary, installed and area luminaires are used by maintenance, inspection and shutdown teams working where flammable gas, vapour or dust may be present.
Hazardous-area lighting ranges
The Wolf Safety catalogue covers rechargeable handlamps and torches, headtorches, linkable temporary floodlights and luminaires, tank lighting kits, installed linear, floodlight, highbay and bulkhead luminaires, and towerlite area lights. Supporting products include ATEX transformers, splitter boxes, cable reels, extension cables and ventilation fans.
Certification and application
Wolf Safety publishes ATEX, IECEx and UKEX certificates alongside its datasheets, so buyers can check the zone, gas group and temperature class before a lamp is issued to a work crew. Typical uses include tank and vessel entry, plant turnarounds, refinery and offshore inspection rounds, and emergency lighting where a hazardous atmosphere is possible.
Sourcing through Seven Star LLC
Seven Star LLC supplies Wolf Safety lighting to customers in Oman and the GCC and can quote against the datasheet model, voltage and zone requirements of each project.
