Wolf Safety LBX Bulkhead Hazardous Area LED Bulkhead Light
Description
Low-glare LED bulkhead for walkways, stairs and entrances in hazardous areas
The Wolf Safety LBX Bulkhead is a compact LED bulkhead light for walkways, steps and entrances inside hazardous areas. It is certified to ATEX, IECEx and UKEX for gas Zone 1 and dust Zone 21 and is rated IP66/67, so it can be used indoors or outdoors.
Every model in the range uses Wolf patented Directional Linear Optics (DLO). The optic sends the light where it is needed and avoids glare even when the luminaire is installed at eye level, which is the usual problem with a standard bulkhead beside a stair or doorway. The housing is cast marine-grade aluminium with a toughened glass cover and four gland apertures, two at each end, to support through wiring.

Why directional optics matter at low mounting heights
A bulkhead at head height is close to the observer, so an unshielded LED array glares and makes steps harder to read. The DLO optic spreads light along the path and cuts upward and sideways spill, which means fewer lumens are wasted on walls and a more comfortable view for people moving through the area. The 90 degree beam is standard and a 110 degree version can be requested.
Wolf supplies the LBX with fixing brackets and offers further fixings as accessories. The datasheet also notes that 110 V and 230 V versions exist, that IES files are available, and that intelligent emergency versions with battery back-up are offered as a separate range.
Selecting and installing the LBX
Choose the L-59 where the higher output is needed and the ambient temperature stays below 59 degrees C, or the L-65 where the surroundings are hotter and 16 W is enough. Both are T4 for gas. Use through wiring only with cable glands or stopping plugs that carry the same Ex certification, and rely on the gland selection to maintain the IP66/67 rating.
Check the supply voltage range before ordering, because the same housing is sold in 110 V and 230 V versions. Follow the Wolf instruction manual for the cable entry, earthing and cleaning of the glass.

About brand
Wolf Safety is a Sheffield manufacturer of ATEX and IECEx certified lighting for hazardous areas, with a history in mining safety lamps going back more than a century. Its portable, temporary, installed and area luminaires are used by maintenance, inspection and shutdown teams working where flammable gas, vapour or dust may be present.
Hazardous-area lighting ranges
The Wolf Safety catalogue covers rechargeable handlamps and torches, headtorches, linkable temporary floodlights and luminaires, tank lighting kits, installed linear, floodlight, highbay and bulkhead luminaires, and towerlite area lights. Supporting products include ATEX transformers, splitter boxes, cable reels, extension cables and ventilation fans.
Certification and application
Wolf Safety publishes ATEX, IECEx and UKEX certificates alongside its datasheets, so buyers can check the zone, gas group and temperature class before a lamp is issued to a work crew. Typical uses include tank and vessel entry, plant turnarounds, refinery and offshore inspection rounds, and emergency lighting where a hazardous atmosphere is possible.
Sourcing through Seven Star LLC
Seven Star LLC supplies Wolf Safety lighting to customers in Oman and the GCC and can quote against the datasheet model, voltage and zone requirements of each project.
