Where MTL barriers and isolators are used
These interfaces sit in marshalling cabinets wherever instruments are located in Zone 0, 1 or 2 areas: gas plants, refineries, offshore platforms, tank farms and chemical units across the GCC. What is the difference between MTL5500 and MTL4500 isolators?
Both ranges offer the same kinds of functions, but the mechanics differ. MTL5500 modules clip onto DIN rail and take power from terminals or a power bus. MTL4500 modules plug into backplanes that carry power and connect to the control system through multiway connectors. A module from one range cannot be fitted in place of the other, so always quote the complete part number.
We still use MTL5000 modules such as the MTL5043. What replaces them?
The MTL5500 range is the later generation of DIN-rail isolators with the same kinds of functions as the MTL5000 range. Send us the old module number with its suffix and we will check the manufacturer's datasheets for the terminal layout, power arrangement and safety description, then propose the model the manufacturer names. The entity parameters must be re-checked for your loop.
How is an MTL5576-THC temperature converter configured?
MTL temperature converters are set up from a PC with PCS45 configuration software through the PCL45USB serial link, which is listed on this page. Input type, range, burnout direction and output scaling are stored in the module. If you send the required thermocouple type and range with your order, we can pass that data on with the request so that the right variant is selected.
Which approvals come with MTL intrinsic safety interfaces?
The manufacturer issues hazardous-area certificates for its isolators, typically ATEX and IECEx, with further regional approvals depending on the model, and it publishes functional safety data for many modules. Certificate numbers are printed on the module label. We provide the manufacturer's certificates and datasheet for the exact part number with the order, on request.
