Pfannenberg PF 43000 230V IP54 Filterfan, 223-247 m3/h

Description

PF 43000 230V IP54 filterfan: high airflow of 223 to 247 m³/h

The PF 43000 230V IP54 is the high-airflow version of the size-4 Pfannenberg filterfan, with a 230 V AC fan delivering 223 m³/h at 50 Hz and 247 m³/h at 60 Hz in a 223 x 223 mm cut-out. It is used where a mid-size cabinet carries a heat load that the PF 42500 cannot remove. Seven Star LLC supplies the PF 43000 230V IP54 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.

PF is the filterfan family, 43000 is size 4 with the large fan, 230V is the supply and IP54 the front protection; the article number is 11643101055. Our range also includes the PF 43000 400V IP54 for three-phase supply. The same cut-out as the PF 42500 allows replacing a smaller fan by this one when a cabinet is upgraded.

PF 43000 230V IP54 compared with the PF 42500

Both fans share the 223 mm cut-out. The PF 43000 is 16 mm deeper, 0.49 kg heavier and draws 45 W instead of 18 W, but it moves 223 m³/h instead of 125. Its filter-grid airflow of 201 m³/h is close to its free flow, which means the filter takes little away from the air volume, whereas the smaller unit loses about a quarter of its flow to the same filter.

The installation depth of 113 mm, 16 mm more than the PF 42500, must be checked against internal components: a mounting plate or a busbar behind the cut-out can collide with the larger fan housing.

Sizing the PF 43000 230V IP54

With 201 m³/h through the filter, the fan can remove about 650 W of heat at a 10 K allowed temperature rise, according to the usual estimate. In practice leave a margin of 20 to 30 percent for dirty filters and for resistance from the exhaust filter. Cabinets above this heat load should consider cooling units, because the allowed temperature rise cannot be reached in hot ambient air.

Fit in the system and related parts

The exhaust filter PFA 40000 is the counterpart. A 400 V three-phase version, 24 V DC, 48 V DC and 115 V AC versions exist in the same size. IP55 versions with fluted filters are also listed. Use a thermostat so the 45 W fan runs only when needed.

PF 43000 230V IP54 selection and ordering checklist

  • Heat load, including solar gain on outdoor cabinets
  • Allowed temperature rise and ambient temperature
  • 230 V AC, 50 or 60 Hz
  • Cut-out 223 mm and installation depth 113 mm
  • Exhaust filter capacity matched to the airflow
  • Thermostat for on-off control
  • IP54 or IP55 version

Installing and maintaining the PF 43000 230V IP54

Mount in the lower wall of the cabinet and put the exhaust high on the opposite side. Use the 6 A gG pre-fuse as stated and check that all internal components clear the 113 mm installation depth.

Inspect filters monthly in dusty plants, as a loaded filter cuts the airflow and raises the cabinet temperature. Check for vibration and bearing noise, particularly after years of continuous running.

Typical PF 43000 230V IP54 applications in Oman and the GCC

Oil and gas, power, desalination and petrochemical sites in Oman and the GCC share the same enemies of control cabinets: ambient air that is hot for most of the year, fine sand and, on the coast, humid salty air. The high-flow filterfan serves MCC cabinets, soft-starter and drive panels, UPS and battery cabinets and kiosk panels, in substations and plant buildings where the room air stays below the cabinet limit.

Noise and vibration deserve attention with the larger fan. Mount the unit with all fixing points tight, avoid contact between the fan housing and cabinet components, and make sure the cut-out is square so the frame does not twist when tightened. The fan runs at a higher speed than the smaller sizes, so a thermostat with a sensible switching hysteresis prevents frequent starts and stops. Also keep in mind that a larger fan pulls more dust per hour through the filter, so the inspection interval should be shorter than for smaller sizes at the same site.

Site conditions in Oman for the PF 43000 230V IP54

Panel cooling in Oman is sized for the worst case, not the average day. Summer shade temperatures in Muscat, Sohar and the interior regularly pass 45 °C, and a cabinet standing in direct sun gains further heat through its walls. When you size the PF 43000 230V IP54, add the internal losses of drives, power supplies and PLCs to the solar and wall gain, and compare the total with the useful cooling capacity at your real ambient and target cabinet temperature, rather than with a nominal figure stated at milder test conditions.

Coastal sites near Duqm, Salalah or Sur also bring humidity and salt-laden dust. Keep door seals intact, route the condensate drain away from live parts, and plan routine filter and coil cleaning so that the PF 43000 230V IP54 keeps its rated performance through the long summer season.

About brand

Pfannenberg is the German maker of thermal management and signalling products for electrical enclosures and industry: filter fans, cooling units, air-to-water heat exchangers, chillers, heaters, sirens and beacons. Otto Pfannenberg, an electrical engineer, founded the company in Hamburg in 1954, and in 1958 he invented the filter fan to stop components in control cabinets from overheating. Pfannenberg is still family-owned and headquartered in Hamburg.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Pfannenberg signalling devices and enclosure climate products for panel builders and plant engineers in Oman and the GCC.
