Pfannenberg DTFS 6021 230V Cooling Unit, 370-450 W

Description

DTFS 6021 230V cooling unit: 370 to 450 W for small enclosures

The DTFS 6021 230V is a Green Series cooling unit from Pfannenberg that can be mounted on the side of an enclosure or fully recessed into it. It gives 370 W at 50 Hz and 450 W at 60 Hz of cooling capacity from a 230 V single-phase supply and uses the refrigerant R513A. Seven Star LLC supplies the DTFS 6021 230V in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.

The name decodes as DTFS for the Green Series side or fully recessed cooling unit, 6021 for the model with about 400 W class capacity, and 230V for the supply. The manufacturer article number for this variant is 13824241055. The 6031 and 6041 models of the same series have higher capacity, and the 115 V and 400 V variants exist under other article numbers.

How the DTFS 6021 230V keeps the enclosure sealed

A cooling unit has two separate air circuits. Warm air from the enclosure passes through the evaporator, where the refrigerant absorbs the heat, and returns cool. Outside air passes through the condenser and takes the heat away. The two circuits never mix, so the enclosure keeps its IP55 protection while heat is removed, and dust, humidity and chemical vapours stay outside.

This is the main advantage compared with a filterfan, which brings outside air into the cabinet. A cooling unit can also cool the interior below the ambient temperature, which a ventilation fan never can. The price is power consumption: this unit draws up to 190 W to move 450 W of heat.

Refrigerant and efficiency of the DTFS 6021 230V

The unit contains 150 g of R513A, a refrigerant with a considerably lower global warming potential than the older R134a. The energy efficiency ratio of 2.1 to 2.4 means that for each watt of electricity, two to two and a half watts of heat leave the cabinet.

Sizing the DTFS 6021 230V

Take the heat load of all components inside the cabinet, add solar gain for outdoor installations and compare it with the EN 14511 rating at the actual ambient and set temperature. Under the A35/A50 condition of 35 °C outside and 50 °C inside, the unit gives 320 W at 50 Hz, which is lower than the 370 W headline figure measured at easier conditions. A margin of about 20 percent over the calculated load is sensible.

Fit in the system and related Pfannenberg parts

The recessed option reduces the projection from the cabinet wall, which helps in narrow aisles. Related models include the DTFS 6031 230V and DTFS 6041 230V of higher capacity, the DTS 6X1E for larger loads, and the NEMA range DTS 3031SS for stainless steel enclosures.

DTFS 6021 230V selection and ordering checklist

  • Total heat load plus solar gain
  • Required internal set temperature, within 25 to 45 °C
  • Maximum ambient temperature, up to 55 °C
  • 230 V single-phase supply at 50 or 60 Hz
  • Side mount or fully recessed installation
  • Cut-out and depth of 190 mm available
  • Condensate drain routing

Installing and maintaining the DTFS 6021 230V

Fix the unit on the enclosure with the supplied gasket and connect the plug-in spring terminal. Route the condensate drain downward, away from live parts. Leave free space around the external air inlet and outlet so the condenser can breathe.

Clean the condenser fins and the filter at regular intervals, as dust build-up lowers capacity quickly. Check the drain for blockage and verify that the set point is not set so low that condensation forms constantly in humid air.

Typical DTFS 6021 230V applications in Oman and the GCC

Oil and gas, power, desalination and petrochemical sites in Oman and the GCC put electrical enclosures in hot rooms, outdoor shelters and dusty yards. A 400 W class unit cools small control cabinets, instrument housings, analyser shelters and field junction boxes where the heat load is modest but the ambient air is too hot or too dusty for a filterfan.

Site conditions in Oman for the DTFS 6021 230V

Panel cooling in Oman is sized for the worst case, not the average day. Summer shade temperatures in Muscat, Sohar and the interior regularly pass 45 °C, and a cabinet standing in direct sun gains further heat through its walls. When you size the DTFS 6021 230V, add the internal losses of drives, power supplies and PLCs to the solar and wall gain, and compare the total with the useful cooling capacity at your real ambient and target cabinet temperature, rather than with a nominal figure stated at milder test conditions.

Coastal sites near Duqm, Salalah or Sur also bring humidity and salt-laden dust. Keep door seals intact, route the condensate drain away from live parts, and plan routine filter and coil cleaning so that the DTFS 6021 230V keeps its rated performance through the long summer season.

About brand

Pfannenberg is the German maker of thermal management and signalling products for electrical enclosures and industry: filter fans, cooling units, air-to-water heat exchangers, chillers, heaters, sirens and beacons. Otto Pfannenberg, an electrical engineer, founded the company in Hamburg in 1954, and in 1958 he invented the filter fan to stop components in control cabinets from overheating. Pfannenberg is still family-owned and headquartered in Hamburg.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Pfannenberg signalling devices and enclosure climate products for panel builders and plant engineers in Oman and the GCC.
