Pfannenberg DTS 6201C 230V MC Cooling Unit, 1000 W

Description

DTS 6201C 230V MC cooling unit: decoded part number 13885221055

The DTS 6201C 230V MC is a 1000 W side-mounted compressor cooling unit from the Pfannenberg εCOOL range. It is mounted on the outside of a cabinet door or side wall and cools the air inside the enclosure to a set temperature that is lower than the ambient air, which a filterfan cannot do. It is aimed at smaller cabinets and at hot spots inside larger ones.

The model name decodes as: DTS is the side-mount (outer mounting) series, 6201C is the compact 1000 W model of the Green-line generation, 230V is the single-phase 230 V supply and MC is the Multi Controller option. The article number of this exact variant is 13885221055 and the colour is RAL 7035 light grey.

How the DTS 6201C 230V MC cools an enclosure

A cooling unit contains a closed refrigeration circuit with compressor, condenser, evaporator and expansion element. Warm air from the cabinet is drawn over the cold evaporator, dried and cooled, then blown back inside, while the condenser rejects the heat to the surrounding air through a separate air path. The two air circuits are kept separate, so the enclosure interior is not contaminated by outside air.

In the Multi Controller version an additional temperature sensor allows the internal fan and the condensate evaporation to be switched off when not needed, which the manufacturer states saves about 10 % more energy and extends fan life. An interface lets service staff read the operating-hours counter and the error history with the εCOOL-Plant software for preventive maintenance.

The condenser is designed with a large fin spacing, so dust loading is slower and service intervals are long. The distance between the air intake and exhaust vents is large, which prevents short-circuit of the cold air.

Fit in the system and related Pfannenberg cooling units

The 6201C is the compact class in the 6000 range. In the same Pfannenberg range the 6401 Green Series covers 2000 W and the X-Series units reach higher outputs.

  • Standard-controller (SC) version of the same unit: article 13885211055
  • Three-phase 400 V version with MC: article 13885229055
  • Partially recessed counterpart DTI 6201C: article 13895221055 (230 V, MC)
  • Optional pre-filter in aluminium, nonwoven or fluted type, condensate evaporation system and external temperature probe as accessories

Selection and ordering checklist for the DTS 6201C 230V MC

Before ordering the DTS 6201C 230V MC, settle the following points so that the right variant is quoted:

  • Heat load to be removed in watts and the target cabinet temperature
  • Highest ambient temperature at site, since capacity drops from 1000 W at +35 °C ambient to 590 W at +50 °C
  • Supply voltage and phases (230 V single-phase for this article)
  • Space on the door or side wall: 968 mm x 410 mm face plus 253 mm of projection
  • SC or MC controller, and whether remote monitoring is required
  • Whether a pre-filter or an external condensate system is needed

Installation, commissioning and maintenance of the DTS 6201C 230V MC

Mounting is by bolts through the cut-out marked in the manufacturer drawing, with mounting holes of 8 mm and cut-out radii of 20 mm. The unit must stand upright because the compressor and the condensate handling depend on gravity. Seal the cut-out and keep the interior of the cabinet closed, because open doors let humid air in and the unit will constantly condense moisture.

Wire the supply with the fuse from the product sheet, use the plug supplied and set the target temperature at the controller. For first start-up wait several minutes after power-on before judging cooling performance.

  • Clean or replace the optional pre-filter at regular intervals and keep the condenser fins clear of lint and dust
  • Check the condensate path and any external evaporator at each visit
  • Read the error history through the service interface where fitted before replacing parts
  • Check that door seals and cable glands maintain the enclosure sealing

Typical applications in Oman and the GCC

A 1000 W class unit is suited to small and medium panels in air-conditioned control rooms, shelters and kiosks, and to hot spots inside larger enclosures. In the GCC the main risk is the ambient temperature of an unconditioned shelter in summer, which can approach +50 °C; check capacity at that point of the curve, not just at +35 °C.

Panels for instrumentation, analysers, drives and telecommunication gear in oil and gas, power and desalination facilities often reach heat loads of several hundred watts, while the electronics inside are rated to only +40 °C or so. A closed-circuit cooling unit keeps the air inside clean, dry and cool without exposing electronics to dust or salty coastal air.

About brand

Pfannenberg is the German maker of thermal management and signalling products for electrical enclosures and industry: filter fans, cooling units, air-to-water heat exchangers, chillers, heaters, sirens and beacons. Otto Pfannenberg, an electrical engineer, founded the company in Hamburg in 1954, and in 1958 he invented the filter fan to stop components in control cabinets from overheating. Pfannenberg is still family-owned and headquartered in Hamburg.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Pfannenberg signalling devices and enclosure climate products for panel builders and plant engineers in Oman and the GCC.

FAQ

Questions about the Pfannenberg DTS 6201C 230V MC Cooling Unit, 1000 W

Answers from our engineering team on installation, compatibility and integration.

01What does MC mean in DTS 6201C 230V MC?
MC stands for Multi Controller, the more capable controller option. It adds an interface for the εCOOL-Plant software with operating-hours counter and error history, plus an extra temperature sensor.
02What is the cooling capacity?
The product sheet gives 1000 W at A35/A35 and 590 W at A35/A50 conditions measured to EN 14511, so the available cooling falls as the surrounding air gets hotter.
03What are the outside dimensions?
The product page lists 968 mm high, 410 mm wide and 253 mm deep for the DTS side-mount version.
04What is the difference between DTS and DTI?
DTS units are mounted on the outer surface of the door or side wall, while the DTI units are partially recessed into the cut-out.
05Which refrigerant and protection class does it use?
The sheet states R134a, 500 g, and an enclosure-side protection class of IP54 when used as intended by the manufacturer.
