Pfannenberg PF 22000 230V IP54 Filterfan, 61-70 m3/h
Description
PF 22000 230V IP54 filterfan: 61 to 70 m³/h for small cabinets
The PF 22000 230V IP54 is a size-2 filterfan of the Pfannenberg series with a 230 V AC fan, a free airflow of 61 m³/h at 50 Hz and 70 m³/h at 60 Hz, and a 125 x 125 mm cut-out. It is made for medium-small control cabinets and terminal boxes. Seven Star LLC supplies the PF 22000 230V IP54 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.
In the model name PF is the filterfan family, 22000 is installation size 2, 230V is the supply and IP54 the front protection. The manufacturer lists this variant under article 11622101055. The IP55 sibling PF 22000 230V IP55 has the same frame but a fluted filter and a UV-stable cover, which changes the airflow and the protection class.

Sizing the PF 22000 230V IP54 against a heat load
A useful rule for ventilation is that the required airflow in m³/h is about 3.1 times the heat loss in watts divided by the permitted temperature rise in kelvin. For a cabinet that dissipates 100 W and may be 10 K warmer than the room, about 31 m³/h is needed. With the filter fitted the PF 22000 delivers 44 m³/h, so it covers the case, but any additional resistance from an exhaust filter or rainhood reduces the margin.
Cabinet temperature rise also depends on how well the air moves through the enclosure. Place the inlet low and the outlet high on the opposite side, and avoid dead zones behind large components, or the thermal figure from the formula will be missed in practice.
Difference from the IP55 version
The IP54 standard filter mat offers 88 percent filtration efficiency and an unimpeded airflow of 61 to 70 m³/h. The IP55 version uses a fluted filter of 91 percent efficiency and a UV-stable cover, and its airflow drops to 56 and 64 m³/h. If the cabinet is indoors in a clean electrical room, the IP54 unit gives more air; if it is outdoors under the sun and exposed to hose-down or spray, the IP55 unit is the better match.
Fit in the system and related parts
The exhaust partner of the size is the PFA 20000 filter, and in the same family the PF 11000 and PF 32000 sit below and above it. A thermostat, a rainhood and spare filter mats are the usual accessories. The EMC version PF 22000 24V EMC IP54 adds shielding for electronics that need an unbroken screen around the cabinet.
PF 22000 230V IP54 selection and ordering checklist
- Heat load and the allowed inside temperature
- Maximum ambient temperature at the site
- 230 V AC at 50 or 60 Hz available
- Cut-out of 125 mm square and depth of 70 mm
- Standard IP54 or IP55 with fluted filter
- Exhaust filter, thermostat and rainhood
- Terminal-strip wiring with a 6 A gG pre-fuse
Installing and maintaining the PF 22000 230V IP54
Fit the filterfan to the cut-out, wire the terminal strip with the pre-fuse from the table and run it for a few minutes to check the direction of flow. The sleeve bearing is designed for 37,500 hours at +40 °C, so in a hot panel plan a replacement at about four years of continuous running.
Filter mats should be checked at each inspection. In dusty areas the interval can be monthly, in clean rooms yearly. A mat that has darkened or become stiff is saturated and should be replaced regardless of calendar time.
Typical PF 22000 230V IP54 applications in Oman and the GCC
Oil and gas, power, desalination and petrochemical sites in Oman and the GCC share the same enemies of control cabinets: ambient air that is hot for most of the year, fine sand and, on the coast, humid salty air. Size 2 fits motor starter boxes, small drive panels, pump control panels and metering cabinets in utility buildings with air conditioning, where room air is cooler than the allowed cabinet temperature. Where the room itself is hot, use a cooling unit or a heat exchanger from the same manufacturer instead.

Site conditions in Oman for the PF 22000 230V IP54
Panel cooling in Oman is sized for the worst case, not the average day. Summer shade temperatures in Muscat, Sohar and the interior regularly pass 45 °C, and a cabinet standing in direct sun gains further heat through its walls. When you size the PF 22000 230V IP54, add the internal losses of drives, power supplies and PLCs to the solar and wall gain, and compare the total with the useful cooling capacity at your real ambient and target cabinet temperature, rather than with a nominal figure stated at milder test conditions.
Coastal sites near Duqm, Salalah or Sur also bring humidity and salt-laden dust. Keep door seals intact, route the condensate drain away from live parts, and plan routine filter and coil cleaning so that the PF 22000 230V IP54 keeps its rated performance through the long summer season.

About brand
Pfannenberg is the German maker of thermal management and signalling products for electrical enclosures and industry: filter fans, cooling units, air-to-water heat exchangers, chillers, heaters, sirens and beacons. Otto Pfannenberg, an electrical engineer, founded the company in Hamburg in 1954, and in 1958 he invented the filter fan to stop components in control cabinets from overheating. Pfannenberg is still family-owned and headquartered in Hamburg.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Pfannenberg signalling devices and enclosure climate products for panel builders and plant engineers in Oman and the GCC.
