Brand:

Pfannenberg FLH 060 Radiant Enclosure Heater, 10-150 W Range

Description

Silent PTC radiant heaters for cabinet anti-condensation

The Pfannenberg FLH 060 belongs to the FLH family of radiant heaters, anodised aluminium profile heaters from 10 to 150 W that clip onto a 35 mm DIN rail. They have no fan and no moving parts, so they are silent and have a long service life. They are used with a thermostat or a hygrostat, mainly to avoid excessively low temperatures or excessively high humidity inside a control cabinet.

Because the PTC element heats quickly, a small heater is enough to keep cabinet air above the dew point and so to prevent condensation forming on terminals, relays and drives. The eight power ratings let the total required heat be split over several heaters placed where the enclosure needs it.

Sizing and placing radiant heaters

A radiant heater warms the surrounding air by convection from the finned profile, so mounting position matters. Fit it in the lower part of the enclosure with free space above, keep it away from plastic cable ducts and temperature-sensitive components, and mind the maximum surface temperature shown in the table: a 150 W heater reaches 150 °C at the surface while a 10 W heater stays at 55 °C. Where a higher-power heater would be too hot for nearby parts, two smaller heaters spread the heat more evenly.

The manufacturer states that the correct power for an enclosure depends on its size, the ambient temperature range and the heat released by the devices inside, and offers a sizing software for this purpose. As a general engineering practice, the heater is switched by a thermostat set to about 10 °C and, where humidity is a concern, also by a hygrostat.

What to confirm before ordering

Confirm the supply voltage, the heater rating, and whether a plug terminal or a 500 mm cable is wanted, because they have different article numbers and protection ratings. The accessory table lists a thermostat (17111000000), a hygrostat (17207000000) and an internal enclosure fan (18110000000). Check the UL certificates listed on the manufacturer page for the exact variant if the project requires listed components.

How the Pfannenberg FLH 060 works

The heater has a PTC element inside an aluminium profile. The element heats fast when cold and limits its own power as it warms. The ribbed profile gives off heat to the air by convection, and the warm air rises through the cabinet. The heater has no fan. It is usually run with a thermostat or hygrostat that switches it on when the cabinet is cold or damp.

Where the FLH 060 is used

  • Control cabinets
  • Outdoor enclosures
  • Terminal boxes
  • Cabinets with drives and relays
  • Sites with high humidity

Selection checklist for the FLH 060

  • Heating power of 60 W
  • Supply voltage of 230 V AC
  • Starting current of 2.5 A
  • Surface temperature of 105 degrees C
  • Terminal or cable connection
  • Thermostat or hygrostat
  • Space in the lower part of the cabinet
  • Number of heaters needed

Installation, commissioning and maintenance notes for the FLH 060

Clip the heater onto the 35 mm DIN rail in the lower part of the enclosure, with free space above it. Keep it away from plastic ducts and from parts that dislike heat. Wire it through a thermostat. Check the surface of the cabinet for condensation after the first cold night, and clean dust off the profile when the cabinet is open.

Documents and quotation

The Pfannenberg FLH radiant heater product sheet is attached to this page and is the manufacturer’s own document, not a Seven Star summary. It also contains the outline drawing: FLH 010 to 045 are 65 mm long, FLH 060 to 100 are 140 mm and FLH 150 is 215 mm, each 70 mm wide and 50 mm deep. Related thermal products are in HVAC & Combustion.

It covers all eight ratings, so give the exact model and connection type. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, quotes the FLH 010 to FLH 150 against your application data; send the enclosure size, ambient temperature, supply voltage and quantity so the correct variant and article number can be confirmed before an offer is issued.

About brand

Pfannenberg is a Hamburg-based family company that makes signaling devices and thermal management products for industrial use. Otto Pfannenberg founded the company in 1954, and its history includes the invention of the filter-fan in 1958 and of the electronic flashing beacon in 1962.

Pfannenberg signaling range

The signaling range covers PATROL and PYRA combined sounders and flashing lights, PROTECT sounders for hazardous areas, and INTENSE modular signal towers. PATROL PA X units are offered from 105 dB(A) to 122 dB(A), and the PRO 10-Ex sounder is specified for zone 2 and zone 22 explosive atmospheres with Ex ec and Ex tc protection.

Requesting a quote for Pfannenberg devices

Send the article number or the full device designation, such as PA X 1-05, together with the supply voltage, lens colour, housing colour and any approval the project requires, for example EN 54-3 or an Ex certificate. Pfannenberg approvals apply to specific versions, so the exact article number is needed to confirm them.
