Pfannenberg PF 11000 24V IP54 Filterfan, 19 m3/h, 24 V DC

Description

PF 11000 24V IP54 filterfan: compact 24 V DC cabinet ventilation

The PF 11000 24V IP54 is the smallest size of the Pfannenberg filterfan series with a 24 V DC fan. It pushes outside air through a G4 filter mat into a control cabinet, free-flowing 19 m³/h, and needs only 2.4 W. Seven Star LLC supplies the PF 11000 24V IP54 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.

The name decodes simply: PF is the filterfan family, 11000 is installation size 1 with a 92 x 92 mm cut-out, 24V is the DC supply and IP54 is the protection class of the front. The manufacturer article number for this exact variant is 11611801055. Because the supply is DC, the fan can run from the same 24 V rail that powers the PLC, which is common in small automation boxes and remote I/O enclosures.

How the PF 11000 24V IP54 cools a cabinet

The filterfan is a ventilation device, not a refrigeration device. Its single axial fan draws ambient air through louvres and a filter mat, blows it into the enclosure and lets warmer air leave through a second opening, usually fitted with an exhaust filter. The achievable cooling therefore depends on the gap between the allowed cabinet temperature and the outside air temperature.

With 19 m³/h free air, the PF 11000 24V IP54 suits cabinets with a heat load of a few tens of watts. A quick estimate uses the relation that the airflow in cubic metres per hour is roughly 3.1 times the loss in watts divided by the allowed temperature rise in kelvin. A 15 W load with a 10 K allowed rise needs about 5 m³/h, so the real flow of 12 m³/h with the filter in place leaves a comfortable margin.

Why 24 V DC and a ball bearing matter on the PF 11000 24V IP54

The 230 V sibling PF 11000 230V IP54 uses a sleeve bearing and draws 12 W. The 24 V DC version has a ball bearing with 70,000 hours L10 life at +40 °C and consumes only 2.4 W, so it adds almost no heat of its own and suits cabinets that are already tight on thermal budget. The tiny power draw also makes it easy to run from a battery-backed supply during a mains outage.

Fit in the system and related Pfannenberg parts

Size 1 is the first of the range PF 11000, PF 22000, PF 32000, PF 42500, PF 43000, PF 65000 and the slim PF 67000 SL. An exhaust filter of the same size, from the PFA 10000 line, is normally used on the opposite side. Related options include a thermostat to switch the fan at a set temperature, spare filter mats and a rainhood for outdoor use.

PF 11000 24V IP54 selection and ordering checklist

  • Heat load in watts and the allowed internal cabinet temperature
  • Highest ambient temperature at site, which must stay below the cabinet limit
  • 24 V DC supply available with enough margin for 2.4 W
  • Cut-out of 92 mm and installation depth of at least 49 mm
  • Exhaust filter, thermostat, hygrostat and spare mats needed or not
  • Colour RAL 7035 acceptable
  • Protection class IP54 sufficient for the location

Installing and maintaining the PF 11000 24V IP54

Cut the opening to 92 mm square, fit the filterfan from outside with the fan inside, and connect the two-core cable observing polarity on the DC supply. Place the exhaust opening on the opposite wall and higher up so that warm air can leave by natural convection.

Inspect the filter mat at every service visit and replace it when it is visibly loaded; a clogged mat reduces the airflow and can let the temperature creep up unnoticed. Keep the outlet clear of cables and brackets, and check that the fan turns freely after long periods of storage.

Typical PF 11000 24V IP54 applications in Oman and the GCC

Oil and gas, power, desalination and petrochemical sites in Oman and the GCC share the same enemies of control cabinets: ambient air that is hot for most of the year, fine sand and, on the coast, humid salty air. A small filterfan is the right tool for compact junction boxes, remote terminal units, instrument and analyser enclosures, and PLC boxes where the temperature inside is only a few kelvin above the room temperature. When the outside air reaches the allowed cabinet temperature, ventilation stops being effective and a cooling unit is the better choice.

About brand

Pfannenberg is the German maker of thermal management and signalling products for electrical enclosures and industry: filter fans, cooling units, air-to-water heat exchangers, chillers, heaters, sirens and beacons. Otto Pfannenberg, an electrical engineer, founded the company in Hamburg in 1954, and in 1958 he invented the filter fan to stop components in control cabinets from overheating. Pfannenberg is still family-owned and headquartered in Hamburg.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Pfannenberg signalling devices and enclosure climate products for panel builders and plant engineers in Oman and the GCC.
