Pfannenberg PF 32000 24V EMC IP54 Filterfan, 98 m3/h

Description

PF 32000 24V EMC IP54 filterfan with EMC shielding

The PF 32000 24V EMC IP54 is a size-3 Pfannenberg filterfan in the EMC version, with a 24 V DC fan, 98 m³/h free airflow and a 178 x 178 mm cut-out. The EMC construction keeps the cabinet screen intact where a normal plastic vent would leave an opening. Seven Star LLC supplies the PF 32000 24V EMC IP54 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.

Decode the name as PF for the filterfan family, 32000 for size 3, 24V for DC supply, EMC for the shielded design and IP54 for the front protection. The manufacturer article is 11832801055. The data table lists EMC-Version as yes, which separates it from the plain PF 32000 24V IP54 variant.

Why an EMC filterfan matters for the PF 32000 24V EMC IP54

Electronics cabinets are often shielded so that interference from drives, radio equipment or switching devices does not reach sensitive circuits, and so that the cabinet does not emit noise. An ordinary ventilation opening in that shield is a hole through which radio-frequency energy can pass. The EMC version has a conductive structure and contact surface designed to keep the shield effective while still letting air through.

This matters in cabinets with frequency converters, measurement amplifiers, radio modems or any device tested for electromagnetic compatibility. Without a shielded vent, a cabinet that passed a laboratory test with a closed door may fail when a ventilation opening is added.

Airflow and DC supply of the PF 32000 24V EMC IP54

The fan moves 98 m³/h free and 73 m³/h through the filter grid. At 5 W it is far more economical than the 230 V AC fans of the size. The 24 V DC supply is convenient in panels with a 24 V bus and in solar-powered or battery-backed remote cabinets. For rough sizing, 73 m³/h handles about 230 W of heat at a 10 K allowed rise.

Fit in the system and related parts

The EMC series is built in sizes 1 to 4 for several voltages, and an EMC exhaust filter of the same size completes the ventilation path. Use the same cut-out dimensions as the standard PF 32000, so a cabinet can be changed over without rework. For the same size without EMC shielding, see the PF 32000 230V IP54.

PF 32000 24V EMC IP54 selection and ordering checklist

  • EMC requirement of the cabinet and the standard to be met
  • Heat load and acceptable temperature rise
  • 24 V DC supply with 5 W available
  • Cut-out 178 mm square and depth 81 mm
  • EMC exhaust filter of matching size
  • Thermostat and spare filter mats
  • Ambient temperature at the site

Installing and maintaining the PF 32000 24V EMC IP54

Prepare a clean, bare metal contact area around the cut-out, because the shielding only works if the frame bonds properly with the cabinet wall. Paint or anodising around the opening must be removed or masked.

Wire the two-core cable observing DC polarity, and put the exhaust on the opposite side. During maintenance replace filter mats on schedule and check the bond at the frame, since corrosion of the contact surface will degrade shielding over the years.

Typical PF 32000 24V EMC IP54 applications in Oman and the GCC

Oil and gas, power, desalination and petrochemical sites in Oman and the GCC share the same enemies of control cabinets: ambient air that is hot for most of the year, fine sand and, on the coast, humid salty air. The EMC filterfan is used on drive cabinets, PLC and communication racks, analyser shelters and telemetry cabinets where sensitive signals share space with noisy equipment. In coastal areas inspect the bonding surface regularly, since salt accelerates corrosion.

Documentation helps when a cabinet has to pass an EMC review. Keep the order number, the data sheet and a photograph of the bonded frame in the cabinet file, and note the surface preparation used around the cut-out. If the cabinet is later modified, the same frame must be re-bonded to bare metal. For installations near radio transmitters, large variable frequency drives or sensitive measurement equipment, a filterfan without EMC construction may weaken the screen, so the extra cost of the shielded version is small compared with troubleshooting intermittent interference in the field.

Site conditions in Oman for the PF 32000 24V EMC IP54

Panel cooling in Oman is sized for the worst case, not the average day. Summer shade temperatures in Muscat, Sohar and the interior regularly pass 45 °C, and a cabinet standing in direct sun gains further heat through its walls. When you size the PF 32000 24V EMC IP54, add the internal losses of drives, power supplies and PLCs to the solar and wall gain, and compare the total with the useful cooling capacity at your real ambient and target cabinet temperature, rather than with a nominal figure stated at milder test conditions.

Coastal sites near Duqm, Salalah or Sur also bring humidity and salt-laden dust. Keep door seals intact, route the condensate drain away from live parts, and plan routine filter and coil cleaning so that the PF 32000 24V EMC IP54 keeps its rated performance through the long summer season.

About brand

Pfannenberg is the German maker of thermal management and signalling products for electrical enclosures and industry: filter fans, cooling units, air-to-water heat exchangers, chillers, heaters, sirens and beacons. Otto Pfannenberg, an electrical engineer, founded the company in Hamburg in 1954, and in 1958 he invented the filter fan to stop components in control cabinets from overheating. Pfannenberg is still family-owned and headquartered in Hamburg.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list Pfannenberg signalling devices and enclosure climate products for panel builders and plant engineers in Oman and the GCC.
