The JUMO DELOS SI (type 405052) is an electronic pressure switch and transmitter for processes where cleanability matters. Its measuring system is front-flush and seal-free, with parts in contact with the medium made of stainless steel 316L and no dead zones where microbes could collect. Factory ranges run from 400 mbar to 60 bar and can be rescaled 1:4, so one device can cover several tasks. Outputs are one or two PNP switching outputs, or one PNP output plus a 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 20 mA or 0 to 10 V analog signal. A two-colour, positively lit LC display shows pressure, the housing turns 160 degrees either way, and the display rotates 180 degrees in software for overhead mounting. A high-temperature variant handles media up to 200 °C for CIP and SIP cleaning.

Reading the order code

The code is 405052/ basic type – input range – output – process connection – connection material – electrical connection – filling medium / extra codes, for example 405052/000-459-471-504-20-36-01/000. Input 459 is 0 to 10 bar relative, 461 is 0 to 25 bar and 463 is 0 to 60 bar; 486 to 506 are the absolute ranges. Filling 01 is silicone oil and 12 is FDA-compliant oil. Extras include 374 and 871 (inspection certificates 3.1 for material and accuracy), 452 (electropolished wetted parts), 591 (restrictor in the pressure channel), 624 (free of oil and grease), 634 (TAG number), 691 (improved humidity and vibration protection), 769 (calibration certificate) and 100 (customised setting). Where it fits

JUMO lists food and pharma, CIP and SIP systems, machine and plant construction, and air-conditioning and refrigeration. The welded, seal-free front-flush connection avoids elastomer crevices in pipes that carry milk, syrup or cleaning chemicals, and the high-temperature option tolerates steam sterilisation cycles. In hot-climate dairies, bottling and pharmaceutical utilities, the local display and two switch points allow pump protection and tank pressure monitoring without a separate gauge. Setup is by the encoder under the screw plug or with the DELOS CD program via the PC interface cable (00456352); cable connectors and the combination tool are accessories. When enquiring, give the pressure range and whether it is gauge or compound, the medium and its temperature, the output combination from the 470 to 477 family, and the process connection. For hygienic plants list the clamp or front-flush size, the seal material and the cleaning cycle, since the EHEDG certificate refers to certain clamp connections. State whether the high-temperature basic type for media up to 200 °C is needed. The unit accepts DC 12 to 30 V, so a standard 24 V loop is suitable. JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.
