Description
WVFX 20: a condenser water valve controlled by refrigerant pressure
Danfoss 003N3100 is a WVFX 20 pressure-operated water valve with G 3/4 internal threads, a brass body and a Kv value of 3.4 m3/h. A control line from the condenser (1/4 in, 6 mm SAE flare) acts on a bellows, and the valve opens on rising condensing pressure. The adjustable control range is 3.5 to 16 bar.
The maximum working pressure on the water side is 16 bar (232 psig), the maximum differential 10 bar, the medium temperature range -25 to 130 C and the orifice 20 mm. The refrigerant side is rated for 26.4 bar (MWP) with a test pressure of 29 bar. Approvals are C UL US Listed, EAC, PED and UA.

Condenser water regulation
A water-cooled condenser needs just enough water to hold the condensing pressure; too much wastes water, too little raises the head pressure and the power consumption. The WVFX senses the pressure in the condenser, and the water flow follows the load automatically without electricity. It works on fresh water and neutral brine.
For R513A the page lists oil-free compatibility. The valve is a member of the WVFX / WVS data sheet group, which also covers sizes 10, 15, 25, 32 and 40.
Setting and ordering notes
Set the valve with a pressure gauge on the condenser: turn the spindle to the desired condensing pressure. Install the valve on the water outlet side of the condenser, with the arrow in flow direction, and connect the control line to the condenser or the liquid line near it without liquid traps.
Confirm the refrigerant, the pressure range (3.5 to 16 bar here), the thread type (G rather than NPT) and the water quality. WVO versions with NPT threads have different codes, so confirm the thread before ordering.

Choosing Danfoss products
For solenoid valves, check the operating principle. A direct-operated valve such as EV210B opens even at 0 bar differential pressure. A servo-operated valve such as EV220B needs a minimum differential (typically about 0.3 bar) to open, while an assisted-lift valve such as EV250B works from 0 bar. Coils are ordered separately, so the voltage on the coil (for example 230 V AC or 24 V DC) must match the control circuit. For drives, the VLT family is split by application: FC 51 Micro Drive for small machines, FC 102 HVAC Drive for fans and pumps in buildings, FC 202 AQUA Drive for water, and FC 302 AutomationDrive for demanding industrial duty.
