Brand:

Danfoss 020-2002 NRVA 25 Check Valve, 25 mm Butt Weld

Description

NRVA 25: a compact in-line check valve for industrial refrigeration

Danfoss 020-2002 is an NRVA 25 check valve with 25 mm (1 in) butt-weld connections to EN 10220. The NRVA is a straight-through, in-line design for industrial refrigeration and has a Kv value of 19 m3/h and a net weight of 3.2 kg.

The ratings shown on the store page are a maximum working pressure of 40 bar (580 psig) and a temperature range of -50 to 140 C. It is lower in both pressure and temperature than the SVL Flexline CHV-X, which makes the NRVA the economic choice when those ratings are enough.

Positioning the NRVA

Typical places are the discharge side of a compressor, the outlet of a refrigerant pump, a liquid line to a receiver and defrost-gas lines where back-flow must be blocked. The valve opens with flow and closes on a spring when the flow stops or reverses, so no manual operation is needed.

NRVA is also sold in a catalogue range from 15 to 65 mm. A separate installation guide (NRVA 15-65) and the data sheet give the dimensions and the minimum opening pressure for each size. It is a separate product line from the NRV copper-connection check valves for small systems. The NRVA is chosen where the pipe is steel and welded, which is usual for ammonia and for larger HFC plants, while the NRV with solder or flare ends serves copper tubing.

Installation and checks

Install in the direction of the arrow, preferably in a horizontal pipe with the cap upwards; avoid positions directly after a pulsation source. Weld with the internals protected as the installation guide shows, and flush the line before final assembly.

Confirm the pressure and temperature class against your design and test pressure, since 40 bar is below the CHV-X rating. Check the refrigerant and oil, the connection size and the standard (EN 10220) before ordering.

Other types and sizes from the same Danfoss family that appear in the Danfoss store listing include NRVA 15 (020-2000), NRVA 20 (020-2001), NRVA 32 (020-2003), NRVA 40 (020-2004), NRVA 50 (020-2005), NRVA 65 (020-2006), NRVA (020-2020). These are listed for orientation only; each has its own datasheet values, so check size, connection and version before ordering.

About brand

Danfoss is the Danish engineering group that makes refrigeration and air-conditioning controls, heating components, variable speed drives and mobile hydraulics. Mads Clausen founded it on 1 September 1933 at his parents' farm in Nordborg on the island of Als, after making his first refrigeration expansion valve in 1932. Nordborg is still the group's headquarters, and Danfoss remains controlled by the Clausen family through the Bitten & Mads Clausen Foundation.

Danfoss company profile

Milestones

  • 1932–1933: First expansion valve; the company is founded in Nordborg.
  • 1939: 26 employees. By the 10th anniversary in 1943 the company has 179.
  • 1950s: Rapid growth turns Nordborg into a Danfoss town with housing and schools for its workforce.
  • 1968: Danfoss launches its VLT frequency converter, one of the first mass-produced AC drives.
  • 2014: Acquisition of the Finnish drives maker Vacon, now the VACON brand.
  • 2021: Acquisition of Eaton's hydraulics business.

Choosing Danfoss products

For solenoid valves, check the operating principle. A direct-operated valve such as EV210B opens even at 0 bar differential pressure. A servo-operated valve such as EV220B needs a minimum differential (typically about 0.3 bar) to open, while an assisted-lift valve such as EV250B works from 0 bar. Coils are ordered separately, so the voltage on the coil (for example 230 V AC or 24 V DC) must match the control circuit. For drives, the VLT family is split by application: FC 51 Micro Drive for small machines, FC 102 HVAC Drive for fans and pumps in buildings, FC 202 AQUA Drive for water, and FC 302 AutomationDrive for demanding industrial duty.

Where Danfoss products are used

In Oman and the GCC, Danfoss drives run pumps, fans and compressors in district cooling plants, water and wastewater stations, desalination and building HVAC. Danfoss pressure switches, transmitters and solenoid valves are built into chillers, refrigeration plants, boilers and hydraulic systems, and AB-QM valves balance chilled-water circuits in large buildings.

Ordering Danfoss products: what we need

Send the Danfoss code number from the label (for example 032U7115 or 131B0149) or the full drive type code (FC-302P3K0T5...). For drives, add the motor power, supply voltage and any fieldbus option. For valves, add the size, connection, medium and coil voltage. For pressure switches and transmitters, add the range, output and pressure connection.
