SNV-ST: a steel stop needle valve for gauges and instruments

Gauge isolation and instrument connections
In a refrigeration plant the SNV isolates pressure gauges, transmitters, pressure switches and sampling points from the process. The 140 bar rating is far higher than the 52 bar of the plant valves, so it never limits an instrument branch. The G 1/2 A thread matches many gauge and transmitter connections.
The ST version has the standard steel construction; the SS version is stainless with NPT threads (a separate code). The needle stem can also throttle a small bypass, for example to dampen pulsation in front of a gauge. Because the valve is bi-flow, it does not matter which end is connected to the process, which simplifies the installation of gauge manifolds.
Installation and ordering checks
Seal the G threads with a flat-faced seal or a bonded washer as shown in the installation guide; do not use thread tape on the sealing face. Support the instrument weight so that the valve is not bent. Close the valve by hand and re-open slowly to avoid pressure shocks on the instrument.

Treat the valve as an isolating device only for instruments; do not use it for continuous throttling of process flow, and replace the cap after each use so that the thread and the needle seat stay clean.

Choosing Danfoss products
For solenoid valves, check the operating principle. A direct-operated valve such as EV210B opens even at 0 bar differential pressure. A servo-operated valve such as EV220B needs a minimum differential (typically about 0.3 bar) to open, while an assisted-lift valve such as EV250B works from 0 bar. Coils are ordered separately, so the voltage on the coil (for example 230 V AC or 24 V DC) must match the control circuit. For drives, the VLT family is split by application: FC 51 Micro Drive for small machines, FC 102 HVAC Drive for fans and pumps in buildings, FC 202 AQUA Drive for water, and FC 302 AutomationDrive for demanding industrial duty.
