Danfoss 068U1718 is a TUBE thermostatic expansion valve charged for R404A and R507A. It is the stainless-steel angleway member of the TU range, with a 3/8 in ODF solder inlet, a 1/2 in ODF outlet and a 1/4 in ODF external equalization connection. The 1.5 m capillary leads to a bulb that is strapped to the suction line; the bulb strap is supplied with the valve.
Orifice size 8 gives a rated capacity of 5.3 kW (1.5 TR) at the Danfoss rating point of 4 K superheat, 38 C condensing, 4.4 C evaporating and 37 C liquid temperature. The valve is set at the factory to a static superheat of 4 C, and the superheat can be adjusted. The charge has a MOP point of -20 C and the working temperature range is -60 C to -25 C, which places it on freezer evaporators and low-temperature display cases.

Where this TUBE version fits
Because the equalization line is external, the valve compensates for pressure drop across an evaporator coil and its liquid splitter, so it suits multi-circuit coils. Flow is single-flow, which means the valve is for one-way systems; heat-pump reversing circuits need a bi-flow version. The maximum working pressure is 34 bar (500 psig), and UL lists the valve for R404A and R507A.
The MOP charge limits the evaporating pressure during pull-down after defrost, protecting the compressor from overload. Compare that MOP point with your design defrost recovery before you order, since a different MOP letter is a different code number.
Sizing and fitting checks
Size the valve from the evaporator load and the real pressure drop across the valve, not from the nominal 5.3 kW alone. Capacity falls when the liquid is warm or the pressure differential is lower than the rating point, and rises when the opposite is true. The orifice is part of the valve assembly; this TUBE is marked as not serviceable, so a different capacity means a different code.
Clamp the bulb on a straight horizontal suction line close to the evaporator outlet, lag it, and avoid positions after a trap. Braze with the valve body wrapped in wet cloth. Confirm refrigerant, MOP point, connection sizes and capillary length against the data sheet before ordering.

Choosing Danfoss products
For solenoid valves, check the operating principle. A direct-operated valve such as EV210B opens even at 0 bar differential pressure. A servo-operated valve such as EV220B needs a minimum differential (typically about 0.3 bar) to open, while an assisted-lift valve such as EV250B works from 0 bar. Coils are ordered separately, so the voltage on the coil (for example 230 V AC or 24 V DC) must match the control circuit. For drives, the VLT family is split by application: FC 51 Micro Drive for small machines, FC 102 HVAC Drive for fans and pumps in buildings, FC 202 AQUA Drive for water, and FC 302 AutomationDrive for demanding industrial duty.
