JUMO digiLine pH/ORP/T Digital Sensor Electronics

Description

Turn a standard pH or redox electrode into a digital bus sensor

The JUMO digiLine pH/ORP/T (type 202705) is a small electronics head that screws onto the connector of a pH or redox electrode, or onto the JUMO compensation thermometer 201085, and converts the raw signal into either a digital RS485 signal or a 4 to 20 mA loop. Calibration data stays inside the electronics, so a worn electrode can be replaced and the electronics unscrewed and reused. The 5-pole M12 version talks the JUMO digiLine protocol with plug-and-play recognition on a JUMO AQUIS touch S or P, or Modbus RTU with a JUMO mTRON T central unit. The 8-pole M12 version is a two-wire transmitter with a scalable 4 to 20 mA output, a digital input that can switch the output between pH and temperature or hold it, and is parameterised with the JUMO DSM software.

How the order code works

The code is only three steps: 202705/ basic type – electrical connection input – output, for example 202705/10-90-530. Basic type 10 measures pH plus temperature, 20 measures redox and 30 is a temperature-only head for the compensation thermometer. Step 2 chooses whether the head has an N socket for common pH and redox electrodes (86) or a VP socket for JUMO sensors with an integrated temperature probe (90). Step 3 chooses the digital RS485 Modbus version (530) or the 8-pole analog version (888). The datasheet shows complete examples: an electrode type 201021 with digiLine pH 202705/10/86-530, a redox sensor 201026 with digiLine-ORP 202705/20/86-530 and a compensation thermometer 201085 with digiLine-T 202705/30/86-530.

Cabling, software and where it helps

Digital sensors are wired with M12 5-pole A-coded cables from 0.5 m to 50 m, Y-splitters and a terminating connector, and the bus needs a SELV or PELV supply. When several digital sensors share an AQUIS touch, a digiLine hub (00646871) and its power supply (00661597) are used. Calibration is normally done on the AQUIS touch or on a PC with JUMO DSM, with the USB-RS485 converter 00746250 for the 8-pole version. A neutralisation plant with pH, ORP and temperature heads on one cable run is the example JUMO shows. The same architecture suits wastewater, swimming-pool and cooling-water treatment where long analog runs would pick up noise. Pair it with the JUMO pH glass electrode, the mTRON T central unit or the AQUIS touch P. See the liquid analysis sensors category for electrodes.

To order the correct module, state whether pH, redox or temperature is measured, which sensor connection the electrode has (cable socket N or the VP socket), and whether the signal goes to a Modbus RTU master or a 4 to 20 mA input. Mention the number of digital sensors that will share one RS485 line, up to 31 on an mTRON T master, and the supply available, either the 5 V digiLine bus or 12 to 30 V in two-wire mode. The ambient limits differ between the 5-pole and the 8-pole version, so please give the cabinet or field temperature. Several stock versions are listed on the datasheet.

The module digitalises the signal close to the electrode, so long cable runs are not affected by interference as an analog pH cable would be. This is especially useful in pump rooms and dosing stations with frequency drives.

About brand

JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.

Where JUMO products are used

In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.

Ordering JUMO products: what we need

Send the JUMO type number and the full order code from the label (for example 902020/10-...). For probes, add the sensor type (Pt100, Pt1000, type K or J), the number of wires, the insertion length and diameter, and the process connection. For controllers, add the input, outputs and supply voltage.
