JUMO tecLine ClO2 and O3 Chlorine Dioxide and Ozone Sensors

Description

Chlorine dioxide and ozone sensors in analog or digital form

The JUMO tecLine ClO2 and O3 series (type 202634) groups eight membrane-covered amperometric sensors for chlorine dioxide and ozone in aqueous solutions. The chlorine dioxide sensors are intended for water from chlorite/chlorine and chlorite/hydrochloric acid generator plants; the ozone sensors can measure electrolytically generated ozone. Each sensor has integrated electronics that give a temperature-compensated 4 to 20 mA signal or a digital Modbus RTU signal. The standard versions use a hydrophobic PTFE membrane, whereas the chemical-resistant versions use an elastomer membrane that tolerates surfactants, bottle-washer and CIP chemicals and seawater. Like all JUMO membrane sensors in the family they cannot prove the absence of the measured disinfectant.

Selecting the sensor version

The code is 202634/ extension – range, for example 202634/45-20 for chlorine dioxide, 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 2 mg/l. Extensions 45 and 65 are the general-purpose chlorine dioxide sensors with a PTFE membrane, intended for swimming-pool, drinking, service and process water that contains no surfactants. Extensions 47 and 67 use the chemical-resistant membrane for bottle washers, rinsers, CIP plants and seawater where surfactants are present. Ozone sensors follow the same logic: 50 and 52 are analog, 60 and 62 are digital. The two-wire types ship with a membrane cap, electrolyte, abrasive paper for cathode cleaning and the manual. Because the code is not modular, JUMO checks free combinations for feasibility. Spares are matched to the version: parts set 00392331 for /45, /50, /60 and /65; 00753804 for /47 and /67; 00762731 for /52 and /62; plus electrolyte 00392332 (ClO2) or 00392333 (O3), 100 ml.

Installation notes and compatible instruments

JUMO recommends the individual flow fitting 00392611, which delivers about 15 cm/s inflow at roughly 30 l/h, together with flow monitor 00605507 and a mounting bracket. A combination fitting (00607325) holds several sensors and has an integrated flow monitor. Digital versions use M12 cables of 1.5, 5 or 10 m, and several digital sensors on an AQUIS touch need a digiLine hub with an external supply. Analog versions connect to the AQUIS 500 AS or the published dTRANS AS 02. Typical locations are swimming pools, drinking-water disinfection, cooling-tower and process water treatment, and bottling plants in hot regions. Sensors should not see pressure fluctuations. See the liquid analysis sensors category for further disinfectant sensors.

Send the target gas (chlorine dioxide or ozone), the measuring range, the water temperature and pH, and any chlorine or ozone that may also be present, because the cross-sensitivity factors differ between standard and chemical-resistant versions. State the analog or digital connection, the cable length for digital versions, and the instrument that will evaluate the signal. The sensor is supplied with a PTFE or elastomer membrane, both of which need regular replacement. A single stock version, the 2 mg/l ozone sensor with 4 to 20 mA output, is available within three working days, while other versions follow the production lead time stated by the manufacturer.

Both measurands are unstable, so sampling should be fast and close to the injection point, with the flow rate held constant in the fitting. A stable inflow, a clean membrane and a correct zero reading after first start-up of about one hour are the main factors for reliable readings.

About brand

JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.

Where JUMO products are used

In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.

Ordering JUMO products: what we need

Send the JUMO type number and the full order code from the label (for example 902020/10-...). For probes, add the sensor type (Pt100, Pt1000, type K or J), the number of wires, the insertion length and diameter, and the process connection. For controllers, add the input, outputs and supply voltage.
