Gent ALD302 S-Quad Anti-Ligature Base
Description
Safer ceiling base for S-Quad detectors in secure facilities
The Gent ALD302 S-Quad anti-ligature ceiling-mounted base provides additional safety to occupants in secure facilities. It was designed for buildings that accommodate people who are at risk, where a standard detector base could be used as a ligature point. It carries a Sdal patent number 2528032A as printed on the datasheet.
A built-in magnetic switch provides loop continuity when multiple items are removed, so no T-breaker is needed to maintain the loop, which saves labour. The device is simple in design, easy to install and easy to reinstate if removed. An anti-tamper lip prevents the storage of contraband between the base and the detector.

Design notes for anti-ligature installations
The datasheet recommends monitoring loop resistance during and after commissioning with the Vigilon Loop Diagnostics Tool, and notes that it may be necessary to limit the quantity of anti-ligature devices on a loop so that loop performance is not compromised. Plan the loop so these devices are counted in the cable resistance calculation.
The base fits the S-Quad detector family, which we list separately as the Gent S-Quad multi-sensor. Typical sites are custodial, mental-health and secure-care buildings. Check local rules for the building type, since the NOMS statement on the datasheet applies to England.
What to confirm before ordering
Send the detector head model, the number of cells or rooms and the loop details so the base count can be checked against the loop design. The datasheet does not state ingress protection or operating temperature, so request that detail from the manufacturer if the project needs it. Gent is a British fire detection and alarm brand that traces its history to 1872, when John Thomas Gent started his business in Leicester. Gents' of Leicester made electric bells, signalling equipment and, for more than a century, electric clocks for public buildings and railway stations, before turning to fire and life safety systems. Gent has been part of Honeywell since 2005 and is still based in Leicester.

The Vigilon Plus, listed as VIGPLUS-72, is the larger control panel for one to six loops with 72-hour standby capacity. The VIG-LPC-EN loop card adds or replaces a loop circuit in the VIGPLUS-24 and VIGPLUS-72 panels. On the loops, Gent uses its own device families, notably S-Quad devices that combine multi-sensor detection with sounder, voice and visual alarm options.
