Description
A programmable carriage for stitch and multi-pass fillet welding
The Promotech LIZARD is a portable, trackless welding tractor with a program memory. It runs on four magnetic drive wheels, follows the joint with roller guide arms and switches the welding arc on and off together with travel. Unlike a simple constant-speed carriage, it can be programmed for continuous welds or for stitch welds with set weld lengths, gaps and end treatment, and it travels at full speed between stitches.
Up to 40 complete programs are stored in non-volatile memory, so a procedure qualified for one joint can be recalled exactly for the next. It is used in trailer, tank, transformer and shipbuilding work where intermittent or long fillet welds are repeated many times.

Programming the weld sequence
A LIZARD program is built from four stages: weld length, crater fill, backweld and skip, repeated until the set total length is reached. Crater fill holds the arc at the end of each stitch, and backweld reverses a short distance to tie in the crater. Programming is done with two-function buttons on the LCD panel, and the menu is available in English, French, German, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Turkish.
Oscillator and guiding options
The optional pendulum oscillator ZSP-0477-10-00-00-0 adds weaving for vertical-up fillets and butt joints. It swings 0–11°, gives 1–30 mm amplitude at a 150 mm radius, 7–164 cycles/min at 10 mm amplitude and 0–5 s dwell at each side, draws 12 W and weighs 2.6 kg. Two torches can be carried without oscillation using the dual torch mount. Guide arms in 20 x 20 mm section are available as low, high, edge-following, adjustable, magnet and track-following pairs, and a 36 mm flexible track can be used where no guiding edge exists.
The shipping set includes standard guide arms, a short-rod torch holder with 16–22 mm clamp, cable anchor, 6.5 m dual arc-ignition cable, 4 mm hex wrench, plastic box and manual.

Promotech is a Polish manufacturer of portable machine tools for the metal industry, delivering machinery since 1987 from its own design and production facility in Poland.
