Brand:

FANUC ARC Mate 120iD Arc Welding Robot

Description

A slim six-axis arc welding robot for tight jigs and long seams

The FANUC ARC Mate 120iD is the heavier-payload member of FANUC’s ARC Mate iD arc welding family. It carries 25 kg at the wrist, reaches 1831 mm and repeats within ±0.02 mm (ISO 9283). FANUC describes it as an arc welding robot renowned for speed and accuracy: a slim, curved arm that fits into narrow welding fixtures, high axis speeds, and a working envelope that lets the torch reach close to the robot’s own base. The 25 kg capacity leaves room for a heavy-duty torch, a water-cooled torch with its cable dress, seam-tracking sensors or a vision camera on the wrist.

How the arm design helps a welding cell

Welding robots spend much of their life inside fixtures, so the shape of the arm matters as much as its payload. The 120iD uses a slim, curved upper arm that FANUC positions for welding in narrow and hard-to-reach spaces, which reduces the risk of the arm colliding with clamps and jig walls. The large 57 mm hollow wrist lets the welding hose pack and extra utilities such as air pipes, a seam-tracking sensor cable or vision cables run inside the arm, so they do not snag and the wrist can articulate fully.

The wrist and J3 arm carry IP67 protection as standard, which suits dirty welding and cutting duty with spatter, dust and moisture, and FANUC notes extra-smooth surfaces to limit spatter build-up. Floor, upside-down and angled mounting give the cell designer freedom to place the robot on a pedestal, a gantry or a tilted base.

Choosing within the ARC Mate iD family

Pick the model from the torch package and the reach the parts demand. Payload covers the torch, cable dress, sensors and any collision protection; reach decides whether one robot covers a part or whether a positioner or a second robot is needed. FANUC Europe lists these ARC Mate iD models:

Model Payload at wrist Reach
ARC Mate 50iD/7L 7 kg 911 mm
ARC Mate 100iD 12 kg 1441 mm
ARC Mate 100iD/10L 10 kg 1636 mm
ARC Mate 100iD/8L 8 kg 2032 mm
ARC Mate 120iD 25 kg 1831 mm
ARC Mate 120iD/12L 12 kg 2272 mm
ARC Mate 120iD/35 35 kg 1831 mm

For smaller reach and payload, compare the published FANUC ARC Mate 100iD; other cell components are listed under welding robots and automation.

About brand
Yellow robot arms are the public face of FANUC, a Japanese maker of CNC systems, robots and machines founded in 1972 and based in Oshino. In welding shops the name stands for the ARC Mate line. Seven Star LLC lists the FANUC ARC Mate 100iD arc welding robot and handles inquiries for FANUC robots and parts from manufacturers in Oman.

FANUC ARC Mate welding robots

ARC Mate is the FANUC family of articulated robots made for arc welding, and the 100iD in our listing is one model of that family. A welding robot is only one element of a cell: it works with a controller, a welding power source, a wire feeder, a torch and often a positioner. FANUC gives the standard 100iD a 12 kg payload and a 1441 mm reach, with a hollow arm and wrist and the R-30iB Plus controller. Long-arm variants have other figures, so the exact variant must be named.

Ordering FANUC robots and parts: what we need

Send the robot model and variant, the controller type, and the serial numbers from the nameplates on the arm and the controller cabinet. For a new cell, describe the part, the weld process, the power source you plan to use and the mains supply. For parts, give the FANUC part number printed on the unit. The same applies to requests from elsewhere in the GCC.

Frequently Asked Questions
