A 10-tonne positioner with a 4-metre swing for heavy fabrication

The Pemamek PEMA SPSi 10000 is the heavy Skyhook PRO size listed here for fabrications that outgrow a 5-tonne unit: large pressure-vessel sections, heavy equipment frames, wind-energy components, shipbuilding blocks and offshore skids. It carries 10,000 kg on a 1,490 mm table plate with four M24 T-slots, supports workpieces up to 4,000 mm in rotation diameter, and has a 1,000 mm offset distance with a tilting axle height from 1,900 to 2,700 mm.

Motion speeds are deliberately slow for such masses: 0.04 to 0.75 rpm rotation and 0.1 to 0.4 rpm tilting, with a 65 second lift. The PRO function set is the same as the smaller sizes and is described by Pemamek as saving hundreds of man-hours each year compared with manual handling. The positioner is supplied with the durable wired RC32H remote control; the PRO application runs in a web browser over WiFi on a phone, tablet or laptop and covers programming of the positioner, machine diagnostics, a maintenance log and note-taking.

Choosing between size, torque and centre of gravity

For big positioners the torque limits matter more than the nameplate load. Rotation is limited to 18,000 Nm, and the datasheet diagram is the governing document; its distance axis runs to 100 cm. Tilting is limited to 20,000 Nm, with a distance axis to 240 cm from the table surface. Treat a workpiece with its centre of gravity beyond those ranges as outside the rating and ask for a review.

Ordering and what to confirm before ordering

Quotation is by specification because the datasheet names only the model. Provide the workpiece mass and the centre-of-gravity distances, the largest diameter and length, the 400 V 50 Hz supply, the welding processes and current, the options (tablet, foot pedal, external rotation control, wireless remote) and whether a column and boom or a rollerbed will be combined with it.
