Kjellberg CUTFIRE 70 Air Plasma Cutting System

Description

Compact 70 A air plasma cutter for workshop and site cutting

The Kjellberg CUTFIRE 70 is the smallest of the four CUTFIRE systems listed here and belongs to a series of six mobile air plasma units that Kjellberg Finsterwalde rates from 35 to 125 A. It cuts with compressed air, accepts a hand-held or machine-mounted KjellCut torch, and is rated for 20 to 70 A cutting current. Kjellberg gives it a recommended cutting range of 20 mm in mild steel, a maximum capacity of 35 mm and a piercing capacity of 15 mm. At 28 kg and 585 x 303 x 505 mm it is the lightest unit in the group, which Kjellberg positions for workshops, metal fabrication and on-site work.

How the automatic settings and monitoring work

Setup starts at the digital display. The operator selects the material, the material thickness and the cutting mode, and the system then determines cutting current, cutting pressure and cutting speed by itself. The control recognises the connected KjellCut torch and takes the torch type and the hose assembly length into account. Digital pressure control and continuous monitoring of input voltage, input current, temperature and gas flow support a stable process, and if the gas pressure falls below the required minimum the system stops the cut to protect the torch. Status and error messages appear on the display with short recommendations for action, and the interface can be switched between German and English and between metric and imperial units.

The unit also carries a CNC interface and a marking function. These extend it from manual cutting to mechanised work on a cutting table, for example for marking a part before it is cut out.

Where the CUTFIRE 70 fits and where a larger unit is better

The 60 % duty cycle at 40 °C and the 16 A mains fuse suit intermittent cutting of sheet, profiles and pipe. Kjellberg also names grating cutting and gouging among the applications. If daily work sits mostly above the 20 mm recommended range, or the cutting is nearly continuous, the 90, 105 and 125 A units in the same series offer higher ratings; check the table above against your thickness list before choosing. Plasma cutting depends on a clean, dry compressed air supply, so confirm the air quality and flow requirements in the manual before installation.

Documents and quotation

Kjellberg publishes a CUTFIRE series brochure that covers the technical data of all models in the range, the display operation and the main applications. A copy is attached to this page. For a quotation, send the model, the mains voltage and frequency available on site, the material and thickness to be cut, hand-held or table use, and the torch hose length. Related equipment is grouped under plasma cutting systems.

About brand
Kjellberg Finsterwalde is a German manufacturer of plasma cutting systems, welding technology and welding electrodes, based in Finsterwalde. The company traces its history to Oscar Kjellberg, who obtained the 1908 German patent for the coated welding electrode, and it has operated in Finsterwalde since 1922. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists the Kjellberg CUTFIRE air plasma cutting systems and sources Kjellberg equipment for fabricators and workshops.

Kjellberg product groups

The cutting range runs from mobile CUTFIRE air plasma units for hand-held and mechanised work to automated systems such as HiFocus, Smart Focus and the iQ and Q series, with KjellCut torches and the Q-Torch automatic torch-change system. On the welding side Kjellberg lists coated electrodes for unalloyed, high-temperature, stainless, nickel-base, cast iron, underwater and surfacing work, plus submerged-arc and TIG welding technology.

Ordering Kjellberg equipment: what we need

Give the model name, the mains voltage and frequency, the material and thickness to be cut, and whether the system will be used hand-held or on a cutting table. For plasma systems also state the torch hose length and whether a CNC interface is needed.
