Brand:

Kjellberg CUTFIRE 90 Air Plasma Cutting System

Description

Mid-range 90 A plasma cutter with an 80 % duty cycle

The Kjellberg CUTFIRE 90 keeps the compact housing of the CUTFIRE 70 but raises the cutting current to 20 to 90 A and the duty cycle to 80 % at 40 °C. Kjellberg lists a recommended cutting range of 25 mm in mild steel, a maximum capacity of 40 mm and a piercing capacity of 20 mm. The housing measures 585 x 303 x 505 mm and the unit weighs 30 kg, only 2 kg more than the smaller model, so the extra power reserve does not change how the unit is moved around a shop or site.

Air plasma cutting with automatic parameter setting

Like the rest of the CUTFIRE range, the CUTFIRE 90 runs on compressed air. The operator picks material, thickness and cutting mode on the colour display, and the control derives the process parameters from that choice. Kjellberg says the system recognises the connected KjellCut torch and its hose assembly length and corrects current and pressure accordingly, and that it switches automatically between quality and severance cuts. Input voltage, input current, temperature and gas flow are monitored, and a drop in gas pressure below the minimum stops the cut before the torch is damaged.

A CNC interface and an integrated marking function are standard from 45 A upward, so the CUTFIRE 90 can also be fitted to a cutting table for mechanised work.

Choosing the CUTFIRE 90 for fabrication work

The 90 A rating suits shops that cut plate in the 10 to 25 mm range regularly and occasionally need more. Its 32 A slow mains fuse is double the 16 A of the CUTFIRE 70, so check the supply on site and the cable and breaker ratings before ordering. Because the 90 shares its housing with the 70, the choice between them is mainly about cutting thickness and duty cycle rather than space. The product page of Kjellberg lists a 20 to 70 A current range in one table row for this model, while the brochure and the text give 20 to 90 A; this page uses the brochure value.

Kjellberg also names cutting of sheet metal, profiles and pipes among the uses, along with marking and gouging.

Documents and quotation

The attached Kjellberg CUTFIRE brochure gives the technical data of the whole series side by side, which makes it easy to compare the 90 with its neighbours. To request a quotation, tell us the model, site voltage and frequency, material and thickness range, whether cutting is hand-held or on a table, and the torch hose length. About brand

Kjellberg Finsterwalde is a German manufacturer of plasma cutting systems, welding technology and welding electrodes, based in Finsterwalde. The company traces its history to Oscar Kjellberg, who obtained the 1908 German patent for the coated welding electrode, and it has operated in Finsterwalde since 1922. Seven Star LLC, an independent supplier in Muscat, lists the Kjellberg CUTFIRE air plasma cutting systems and sources Kjellberg equipment for fabricators and workshops.

Kjellberg product groups

The cutting range runs from mobile CUTFIRE air plasma units for hand-held and mechanised work to automated systems such as HiFocus, Smart Focus and the iQ and Q series, with KjellCut torches and the Q-Torch automatic torch-change system. On the welding side Kjellberg lists coated electrodes for unalloyed, high-temperature, stainless, nickel-base, cast iron, underwater and surfacing work, plus submerged-arc and TIG welding technology.

Ordering Kjellberg equipment: what we need

Give the model name, the mains voltage and frequency, the material and thickness to be cut, and whether the system will be used hand-held or on a cutting table. For plasma systems also state the torch hose length and whether a CNC interface is needed.
