1.25Cr-0.5Mo SAW wire for boilers and petrochemical pressure vessels
Böhler Union S 2 CrMo is a copper-coated solid wire for submerged arc welding of creep-resistant 1.25 % Cr – 0.5 % Mo steels in power generation boilers and in petrochemical pressure vessels. It is classified AWS A5.23 / SFA-5.23 EB2R and EN ISO 24598-A S S CrMo1. The suffix R in EB2R marks the restricted trace-element level that is required where temper embrittlement is a concern, so it is a wire for equipment that runs hot for long periods, such as steam drums, headers, reactors and heat exchanger shells in 1Cr-0.5Mo and 1.25Cr-0.5Mo grades.

Flux, PWHT and procedure
The UV 420 TTR-W data sheet recommends that flux in particular for Union S 1 CrMo 2 and Union S 2 CrMo on AC, to hold strength after long post-weld heat treatment and to meet stringent sub-zero toughness requirements even after step cooling. Storage and wire handling
Copper-coated SAW wire protects itself from rust only while it stays dry and clean. Keep spools and coils in their original packing until use, store them off the floor in a dry room, and do not leave an opened spool on the machine overnight in humid conditions. Surface rust and dust shorten contact tip life, disturb feeding and add hydrogen to the weld. Before ordering, confirm the diameter, spool or coil type and the certificate level (for example EN 10204 type 3.1) that your project requires.
