JUMO MIDAS DR 401009 Pressure Transmitter for Control Cabinets

Description

A DIN-rail pressure transmitter that snaps into the control cabinet

The JUMO MIDAS DR (type 401009) is a pressure transmitter built to be installed directly inside a control cabinet. It measures relative (gauge) pressure in liquid or gaseous media using the thick-film strain gauge principle on an aluminium-oxide ceramic (Al2O3) base, and converts the pressure to a standard electrical signal. The housing is stainless steel, it snaps onto a 35 mm DIN rail, and the medium connects through a pluggable DN6 hose gland or a Rp 1/8 internal thread. Gauge ranges run from 0 to 1.6 bar up to 0 to 16 bar and include compound ranges from -1 bar, with a choice of 2-wire 4 to 20 mA or 3-wire voltage outputs. At roughly 100 g and with a 4-pole screw terminal block, it suits air, water and inert gas monitoring in panels.

Order code and options

The order code is 401009 / extension – range – output – connection – housing – seal – electrical connection / extra codes. Extension 000 is standard and 999 a special version. Range codes are 455 (0 to 1.6 bar), 456 (2.5 bar), 457 (4 bar), 458 (6 bar), 459 (10 bar) and 460 (16 bar), or 479 to 484 for -1 to 0.6, 1.5, 3, 5, 9 and 15 bar. Output codes are 405 (4 to 20 mA), 412 (0.5 to 4.5 V), 415 (0 to 10 V), 418 (1 to 5 V) and 420 (1 to 6 V). Connection code 383 is the hose gland and 547 the Rp 1/8 thread, housing 20 is stainless steel, seal 601 is FPM and electrical connection 06 is the terminal block. The order example is 401009/000-459-405-383-20-601-06/000.

Installation and typical applications

Because the unit is rated IP40, it belongs inside a cabinet or enclosure, not at a wet process point; route a 6 x 4 mm hose or tube from the measuring point to the pluggable gland. The compound ranges with a negative lower limit are only suitable for negative gauge pressure down to -0.95 bar when fitted with the hose gland, code 383. The wetted parts are stainless steel, ceramic and FPM, and the buyer should always confirm compatibility with the medium. Overload and burst values can differ depending on the process connection and tubing used. Supply voltage affects the output slightly, at 0.02 % per volt around 24 V, and voltage outputs should be wired in 3-wire form with a common ground.

A cabinet-mounted transmitter saves a field instrument and long impulse lines when the pressure source is already near the panel. Typical uses are compressed air supply monitoring, filter differential checks with two units, pump discharge and suction pressure on skids, hydraulic and lubrication circuits, cooling water and boiler feed monitoring. The 4 to 20 mA version suits long cable runs to PLCs and recorders, while the 0.5 to 4.5 V ratiometric output is meant for controllers that share the same 5 V reference. Browse the pressure instrumentation category for other transmitters and switches.

An enquiry should list the pressure range, whether a vacuum range is needed, the output signal and the supply voltage available in the cabinet. State the medium, which must be compatible with ceramic, stainless steel and FPM, and its temperature within -15 to +60 °C. Mention the hose size so that we can select the DN6 pluggable gland or the Rp 1/8 thread. The EAC certificate applies to this type.

Typical examples are a compressed air receiver feeding a pneumatic panel, a pump discharge line near the switchboard and a closed cooling circuit with a short impulse tube. The small 100 g body keeps rail space low.

About brand

JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.

Where JUMO products are used

In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.

Ordering JUMO products: what we need

Send the JUMO type number and the full order code from the label (for example 902020/10-...). For probes, add the sensor type (Pt100, Pt1000, type K or J), the number of wires, the insertion length and diameter, and the process connection. For controllers, add the input, outputs and supply voltage.
