JUMO MIDAS C18 SW Titanium Seawater Pressure Transmitter

Description

A titanium pressure transmitter for seawater, brine and desalination plants

The JUMO MIDAS C18 SW (type 401012) is an OEM pressure transmitter whose titanium grade 2 housing and process connection resist chloride-bearing media such as seawater, brackish water, saline solutions and organic acids like acetic acid. Inside is an oil-free, hysteresis-free aluminium-oxide ceramic cell, so a burst cannot leak filling oil into a reverse-osmosis or potable stream. The transmitter covers relative pressures of 0 to 1.6 bar up to 0 to 100 bar, outputs 4 to 20 mA two-wire or 0 to 10 V three-wire, and weighs just 44 g with a G 1/4 connection and M12 plug, about 40 percent less than comparable stainless versions according to the datasheet. JUMO lists water treatment, reverse osmosis and seawater desalination plants, purification plants, ballast tanks on ships and offshore applications as the typical uses.

Order code and options

The code is 401012/ extension – input – output – connection – material – seal – electrical connection / extra code, for example 401012/000-460-405-521-60-601-11/630. Input 460 is 0 to 16 bar, 462 is 0 to 40 bar and 464 is 0 to 100 bar. Output 405 is two-wire 4 to 20 mA and 415 is 0 to 10 V. Process connection material is always 60, titanium. Seal 600 is EPDM and 601 is FPM, and the datasheet reminds users to check seal compatibility with the medium. The G 1/4 DIN 3852-11 connection is offered as standard only together with extra code 630 (enlarged pressure channel). With the DNV extension 062 the attached cable option and special ranges above 100 bar are not allowed, and the accessories are not checked to DNV requirements. Available mating plugs are straight and angled M12 line sockets with 2 m cable (00404585, 00409334) and a pressure-compensating socket with 5 m cable (00512341).

Desalination and offshore practice

Seawater RO trains see pressures of about 55 to 70 bar on the high-pressure side and much lower values on feed and permeate lines, so the 4 to 100 bar ranges are the usual choices, plus low-range versions for cartridge-filter differential monitoring. Titanium avoids pitting and crevice corrosion that attacks 316L in warm chloride water, which is relevant in Gulf intake lines and ballast systems. Do not choose a range that leaves normal pressure below about 30 percent of span if accuracy matters, and consider the enlarged pressure channel (630) for viscous or fouling-prone liquids. For stainless-steel OEM service see the published MIDAS OEM pressure transmitter and MIDAS S05; for hygienic duty see TAROS S46 H. Browse the pressure instrumentation category for diaphragm seals and cables.

To enquire, give the pressure range, the output signal, the process connection and the electrical connection: a 2 m attached cable, an M12 round plug or a line socket. The titanium process connection suits seawater and chloride media, so tell us the medium, the temperature up to 125 °C and the sealing material, EPDM or FPM. A DNV approval is available with extension 062 for marine installations, but it is not combined with the attached cable. The potted electronics resist vibration up to 20 g and condensation, and the unit weighs only 44 g, which makes it easy to fit on compact skids and marine installations.

About brand

JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.

Where JUMO products are used

In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.

Ordering JUMO products: what we need

Send the JUMO type number and the full order code from the label (for example 902020/10-...). For probes, add the sensor type (Pt100, Pt1000, type K or J), the number of wires, the insertion length and diameter, and the process connection. For controllers, add the input, outputs and supply voltage.
