The JUMO DELOS HP (type 405054) is the high-pressure member of the DELOS family: a precision electronic pressure switch with analog output for hydraulic plants, machine and plant engineering, test benches and laboratory equipment. The stainless-steel thin-film sensor is welded to the process connection, so the measuring system has no seals, and burst pressure reaches up to three times the nominal range (800 bar for the 160 bar range and 1800 bar for the 600 bar range, with overload capability of 320 and 900 bar). Two nominal ranges, 0 to 160 bar and 0 to 600 bar, can be rescaled 1:4. The positively lit two-by-four-digit display, configuration by rotary encoder or PC program and a case that rotates by 160 degrees either way are shared with the other DELOS types.

Ordering notes

The code is 405054/000 – range – output – process connection – material – electrical connection / extra code, with example 405054/000-465-471-521-20-36/100. The two input codes are 465 and 468. Output codes follow the family pattern, and the analog output is freely configurable even though it ships with the code-specific default. Process connection codes 521 and 523 arrive with external FPM seals, so check seal compatibility with the medium. Extra codes are 100 (customer-specific default settings written in plain text), 591 (choke in the pressure channel, useful to damp hydraulic pulsation) and 624 (oil and grease free). Accessories include the DELOS CD setup program 405050 (00522384), the USB/TTL interface (00456352), a Y transmitter cable (00507861), the combination tool (00526614), a wall or 2-inch pipe holder (00597711) and M12 cable sockets in straight or angled form with 2 m PVC cable.

Choosing HP over the hygienic SI

Select the HP when pressures exceed the 60 bar limit of the DELOS SI, for example hydraulic power units, press test benches, high-pressure washdown skids and compressor bench testing, where a rugged welded 316L connection matters more than an EHEDG-certified hygienic face. The family shares the same menu and display, so maintenance teams see one interface across HP, SI and the published DELOS S02. The datasheet is dated 2014, so confirm current ranges with the manufacturer. A request for quotation needs the nominal range (160 or 600 bar), the turn-down you want, the output combination and the process connection. Because the sensor is welded and free of seals, it suits hydraulic and high-pressure process lines, but pulsation and pressure peaks should be described so that a choke can be considered. Give the medium and its temperature within -25 to +100 °C, and the supply voltage from 12 to 30 V DC. The zero point can be corrected on site by up to 20 % of the nominal range. One stock version, 0 to 600 bar with a PNP switch and a 4 to 20 mA signal, is listed on the datasheet.

General uses are hydraulic circuits, test benches and high-pressure process lines where a local display, limit switching and a standard analog signal are wanted in one housing.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.
