JUMO tecLine Ci-S Inductive Conductivity Sensor

Description

An inductive conductivity cell with a flow-through PVDF body and Pt1000

The JUMO tecLine Ci-S (type 202942) is an inductive conductivity sensor with an integrated Pt1000 class A temperature probe. Two measuring coils sit inside a hermetically sealed PVDF body with a flow-through opening, so the medium never touches a metal electrode and the sensor is largely unaffected by grease or oil films, deposits or electrode polarisation. The temperature probe is either exposed in a stainless-steel pocket for fast response (t0.9 of 6 s) or, with extra code 268, built into the cell body so no metal contacts aggressive media at the cost of slower temperature readings. JUMO positions the Ci-S for liquid foodstuffs, CIP and SIP systems, rinsing and cleaning processes and acid, lye and cleaning-chemical concentration, and it also fits many older plants because of its wide choice of process connections.

Configuring the order code

The code reads 202942/10 – process connection – insertion length – electrical connection – cable length / extra code, for example 202942/10-607-0000-21-10/000. Electrical connection 21 is the fixed cable with M12 connector, and the cable length code is 10, 20 or 30 m. Extra code 268 switches to the internal temperature probe and makes the process connection of PVDF, except for clamp 617 and SMS 690 which stay stainless steel. Insertion lengths apply only to the immersion version 706. Union nuts and clamp rings are not included in delivery. Accessories are flanges DN 32 (00083375) and DN 50 (00083376) in PP for the immersion version, a weld-on threaded adapter with PTFE sealing ring (00085020), grooved union nuts for DN 50, SMS DN 2 and F 65, and calibration adapter 202711/21 (00543395). The datasheet states that commissioning requires a suitable transmitter, the sensor and that calibration adapter.

Placement and plant fit

The many connections allow a drop-in replacement for older sensors: G threads for small lines, DIN 11851 dairy fittings, tri-clamp and SMS for hygienic lines, and an immersion tube for open tanks and channels. Materials are described by JUMO as FDA and food-use approved. Mount it so the loop opening aligns with flow, using the supplied mounting examples for DIN 11851 weld-on adapters and clamp tees. For reading the sensor, pair it with the AQUIS 500 Ci instrument, for example the AQUIS 500 CR sibling for conductive cells, or an AQUIS touch for multi-channel duty. Typical hot-region duties include caustic and acid CIP return monitoring in bottling and dairy plants, desalination chemical cleaning and boiler-condensate leak detection. Browse the liquid analysis sensors category for matching conductivity cells.

To select the sensor, state the medium and its conductivity range, the maximum temperature and pressure at the sensor, and the fitting type: threaded, DIN 11851 dairy, clamp, or an immersion version in insertion lengths up to 2000 mm. Because the pressure rating falls from 10 bar at 20 °C to 2 bar at 125 °C, the process pressure must be given with the temperature. Choose the cable length of 10, 20 or 30 m, and the optional internal temperature probe. The sensor is read by one of the listed transmitters, so please also mention the instrument or controller that will be used with it.

The inductive principle has no metal electrodes in contact with the liquid, so the sensor suits aggressive acids, alkalis and fouling media where conductive cells would corrode or coat. The PVDF body and EPDM seal resist many cleaning agents, but compatibility should always be verified for the actual medium.

About brand

JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.

Where JUMO products are used

In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.

Ordering JUMO products: what we need

Send the JUMO type number and the full order code from the label (for example 902020/10-...). For probes, add the sensor type (Pt100, Pt1000, type K or J), the number of wires, the insertion length and diameter, and the process connection. For controllers, add the input, outputs and supply voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Ci-S measure conductivity?
Inductively: a transmitter coil induces a current in a receiver coil through the liquid loop, and the current is proportional to conductivity.
What is the body material?
PVDF as standard, with stainless steel and EPDM parts depending on the process connection.
What pressure and temperature can it take?
Up to 10 bar at 20 °C and medium temperatures of -10 to +125 °C, briefly 140 °C for up to 15 minutes.
Which transmitters work with it?
JUMO AQUIS 500 Ci, AQUIS touch S or P, and digiLine Ci ST10.
What does extra code 268 change?
It fits an internal temperature probe inside the cell body so no metal touches the medium, with slower response.
