JUMO MAERA S29 SW Titanium Level Probe

Description

Titanium and stainless level probe for seawater and sewage

The JUMO MAERA S29 SW (type 404393) is a hydrostatic level probe in titanium or stainless steel for continuous level measurement in ventilated tanks. Its titanium version was designed for liquids containing chlorides, such as in shipbuilding, swimming pools, and water and sewage management. A front-flush membrane with a screw-on protective cap offers an option for highly viscous media.

Typical applications named in the data sheet are tank and storage systems, clarification, settling and rainwater retention basins, sewage lifting and pumping stations, splash-water containers for swimming pools and ballast water tanks. The probe works from a depth as low as 1 metre of water column, has reverse-polarity protection, and is available with approvals for shipbuilding (titanium only) and explosion protection.

Order code highlights

The type 404393 carries a basic extension: 000 for none, 062 for shipbuilding approval (titanium only), 362 for explosion protection and 662 for shipbuilding approval plus intrinsic safety Ex i (titanium only). The input code selects a range such as 302 (0 to 1.6 mH2O), 306 (0 to 10 mH2O), 414 to 424 (mbar), 454 to 456 (bar relative) or 487 to 493 (absolute), with 997 to 999 for special ranges.

Output is 405 (4 to 20 mA). Process connection 759 is the mounted protection cage and 770 the front-flush connection with protective cap. Connection material 20 is stainless steel with PUR cable, material 60 is titanium with FEP cable, and cable length codes include 002, 005 and 010 (2, 5 and 10 m).

Choosing titanium or steel

Choose titanium wherever chloride content could attack stainless steel, as in seawater ballast tanks and brine, and select stainless steel with the PUR cable for ordinary water, sewage and pump-station duty. The front-flush protective cap suits viscous media and resists clogging, while the protection cage protects the membrane in basins with debris.

Since a probe hanging in a tank is exposed to the medium, check the wetted-material compatibility and apply the usual practice of keeping the cable vent end dry. Explosion-protected versions require an intrinsically safe supply circuit.

About brand

JUMO is the German maker of temperature sensors, process controllers, pressure transmitters and liquid analysis instruments. Moritz Kurt Juchheim founded it in Fulda in 1948 as M. K. Juchheim KG, making glass thermometers with six employees. The name JUMO comes from the founder's name. It is still a family company headquartered in Fulda, and the parent company has been called JUMO GmbH & Co. KG since 2003.

Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat. We list JUMO RTD and thermocouple probes, thermowells, transmitters, controllers, recorders and water analysis instruments, and supply them to process plants, OEMs, HVAC contractors and water utilities in Oman and the GCC by type number.

Choosing a temperature sensor starts with the range and accuracy. A Pt100 RTD is accurate and stable from about -200 to 600 °C and is the usual choice in process plants. A thermocouple (type K or J, for example) covers much higher temperatures and responds faster but is less accurate. The wiring also matters: a 3-wire or 4-wire Pt100 connection cancels the resistance of the cable, while a 2-wire connection adds an error that grows with cable length. That is why a head-mounted transmitter is often fitted close to the sensor.

Where JUMO products are used

In Oman and the GCC, JUMO sensors and controllers are used in oil and gas and chemical plants, food and beverage production, plastics and metal heat treatment, HVAC and district cooling, water and wastewater treatment, swimming pools and marine applications.

Ordering JUMO products: what we need

Send the JUMO type number and the full order code from the label (for example 902020/10-...). For probes, add the sensor type (Pt100, Pt1000, type K or J), the number of wires, the insertion length and diameter, and the process connection. For controllers, add the input, outputs and supply voltage.
