Endress+Hauser Memosens CPS11E Digital pH Sensor

Description

Overview of the Endress+Hauser Memosens CPS11E Digital pH Sensor

The Endress+Hauser Memosens CPS11E is a digital pH sensor with Memosens 2.0 technology for standard applications in process technology and environmental engineering. Endress+Hauser designs it for long-term monitoring and limit control in processes with stable conditions, including the chemical industry with strong acids and bases, power plants and flue gas cleaning, oil and gas, incinerators, water and wastewater treatment, boiler feedwater, cooling water and drinking water. A large ring-shaped PTFE junction keeps maintenance low, and the sensor is rated for pressures up to 17 bar absolute.

As the official trusted supplier and regional supplier for Endress+Hauser, Seven Star LLC proudly supplies the Endress+Hauser Memosens CPS11E to customers across the Sultanate of Oman and the wider GCC. Seven Star LLC provides the Technical Information TI01493C with every offer, so that water and process engineers in Muscat, Sohar and Salalah can match glass type, reference system and length to the application.

Measuring Principle of the Endress+Hauser Memosens CPS11E

The Endress+Hauser Memosens CPS11E measures pH through its membrane glass. The glass develops an electrochemical potential that depends on the pH of the medium because H+ ions accumulate selectively on the outer layer of the membrane, and an integrated Ag/AgCl reference system acts as the reference electrode. The measured voltage is converted to a pH value with the Nernst equation, and an integrated NTC 30K temperature sensor supplies the temperature for compensation.

What distinguishes Memosens is the digital signal path. The measured value is digitized inside the sensor and passed to the transmitter through a non-contact inductive connection in the plug-in head. Moisture cannot cause corrosion at the connection or distort the reading, the transmitter is galvanically decoupled from the medium, and a sensor failure or an interrupted connection is reliably detected and reported. The sensor must always be connected to a transmitter with Memosens technology, such as the Liquiline CM42 or CM44x, using the Memosens cable CYK10 or CYK20.

Engineering Design of the Endress+Hauser Memosens CPS11E

Three process glasses are offered. Application A covers pH 1 to 12 at –15 to +80 °C, application B covers pH 0 to 14 at 0 to +135 °C and is also suitable for highly alkaline media, and application F covers pH 0 to 10 at 0 to +70 °C for media containing hydrofluoric acid. Pressure ratings are 0.8 to 17 bar absolute for A and B and 0.8 to 7 bar absolute for F. Four reference systems are described: AA with 3M KCl, AS with saturated KCl for media of low conductivity, TA with an Ag+-free ion trap against poisoning, and TS combining both.

The 12 mm shaft is available in installed lengths of 120, 225, 360 and 425 mm, weighing 40 to 100 g. The process coupling is Pg 13.5 in glass-fiber reinforced PPS with an FKM O-ring, and the plug-in head withstands 16 bar. The degree of protection is IP 68 (10 m water column, 45 days), and the sensor must be installed at an angle of at least 15° from the horizontal so that no air bubble forms. Hand-tightening with 3 Nm is specified in Endress+Hauser assemblies.

Key Features of the Endress+Hauser Memosens CPS11E

The Endress+Hauser Memosens CPS11E offers the following capabilities according to the manufacturer’s documentation:

  • Memosens 2.0 digital signal transmission with sensor data stored in the sensor, including calibration history and sensor load.
  • Laboratory calibration with quick exchange of pre-calibrated sensors, which raises the availability of the measuring point.
  • Process glass options for standard, highly alkaline and hydrofluoric acid applications.
  • Large PTFE ring junction that is robust, low-maintenance and sterilizable.
  • Pressure resistance up to 17 bar absolute and temperature capability up to 135 °C with the application B glass.
  • Reference systems with salt storage for low-conductivity media and with an ion trap against poisoning.
  • Recording of operating data such as maximum temperature, hours under extreme conditions and CIP counter, which supports predictive maintenance.
  • Ex ia IIC certifications for ATEX, IECEx, CSA, NEPSI and others, and marine approvals from ABS, BV, DNV and LR.

Industrial Applications of the Endress+Hauser Memosens CPS11E

The Endress+Hauser Memosens CPS11E is used to monitor and control pH in neutralization stages, chemical dosing, flue gas scrubbers, boiler feedwater and cooling-water circuits, and in drinking water, well water and municipal or industrial wastewater plants. Because the sensor accepts hot and alkaline media with the application B glass and fluoride-bearing media with the application F glass, it also fits chemical processing. In Oman typical measuring points include desalination and reverse osmosis plants, power and district cooling stations, wastewater treatment and chemical plants in the Sohar and Salalah economic zones.

Seven Star LLC supplies the Memosens range throughout Oman and the GCC. Buyers can combine the sensor with the Endress+Hauser Liquiline CM442 or Liquiline M CM42 transmitter, or compare it with the ABB TB556 pH/ORP sensor for other designs.

About brand
Level, flow and pressure measurement account for most of the Endress+Hauser instruments engineers ask us about, and each device is defined by the order code on its nameplate. Endress+Hauser, founded in 1953 and based in Reinach, Switzerland, builds process instrumentation for liquids, gases and bulk solids. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier listing Endress+Hauser (E+H) flowmeters, radar and vibronic level instruments, pressure and temperature transmitters and liquid analysis equipment for plants in Oman and the GCC.

Endress+Hauser product families on this page

Level is the largest group: Micropilot free-space radar (FMR10B, FMR62 and the FMR67 for bulk solids, all 80 GHz), Levelflex guided radar (FMP50, and the FMP55 for interface measurement), the Liquiphant FTL51 vibronic point level switch and the Prosonic S FMU90 ultrasonic transmitter. Flow covers Proline Promag electromagnetic flowmeters (Promag P 300, Promag W 400) and the Prowirl F 200 vortex meter. Pressure is represented by the Cerabar PMP51B, temperature by the iTEMP TMT82 HART transmitter. For liquid analysis the listing has the Liquiline CM444 multiparameter transmitter and Memosens sensors such as the CPS11E pH electrode.

Where Endress+Hauser instruments are used

Water and wastewater plants rely on Promag W meters, radar level and Liquiline analysis. Oil and gas, chemical and power plants specify Levelflex and Micropilot on tanks and separators, Prowirl on steam and gas, and Cerabar on process lines. Food and pharmaceutical producers use hygienic versions of the same families, and cement and mining sites use the FMR67 on silos.

Ordering Endress+Hauser instruments: what we need

Send the order code and, for a replacement, the serial number from the nameplate. The extended order code is better still, because it spells out every option. Without a code we need the medium, pressure and temperature, measuring span, process connection, wetted materials, output signal or fieldbus, power supply, display and the hazardous area approval required. For flowmeters add line size and liner, for radar the tank height and nozzle size.
