RKI GX-Force Sample-Draw 4-Gas Monitor

Description

RKI smallest personal sample-draw monitor, with a leak-check mode

The RKI GX-Force is a sample-draw 4-gas monitor that RKI describes as its smallest personal 1-4 gas monitor. A strong internal pump gives a 100 ft sampling range, so the user can check a confined space, manhole or tank before entry without carrying the instrument in. It measures the standard confined-space gases (LEL combustibles, oxygen, CO and H2S) with the same micro-sensor technology used in the GX-3R, GX-3R Pro, 04 Series and Gaswatch 3.

Two operating modes cover safety monitoring (Normal) and leak investigation (Leak Check), where combustibles are read in the ppm range. The unit weighs 9.87 oz, charges and downloads over USB-C and runs about 30 hours on its lithium-ion battery.

Using sample-draw in the field

A pump instrument must be calibrated and bump tested with the sample line attached, and a low-flow alarm warns when the hose or filter blocks. Calibration and bump-test intervals are user adjustable and can either give an alarm or lock the user out of normal measurement once a period expires. Calibration can be done individually or in a group. Sensors and filters are field replaceable.

Compared with a diffusion monitor, the GX-Force suits pre-entry checks and leak tracing along flanges and fittings; for personal continuous protection a clip-on diffusion unit such as the GX-3R Pro is the usual choice.

What to confirm before ordering

State whether CH4 or HC calibration is required for the combustible channel, the hose length and probe, the approval marking needed for the site, and calibration gas supply. The datasheet does not give a Bluetooth function for the GX-Force; data transfer is by USB-C.

About brand

RKI Instruments, Inc. designs and manufactures gas detection equipment for industrial, commercial and environmental safety. The company was founded in 1994, is headquartered in Union City, California, and works with Riken Keiki of Japan on gas detection and sensor technology. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat and lists its portable gas monitors.

RKI gas detection range

The range covers portable monitors such as the GX-3R Pro, GX-Force and GX-6100, fixed-system detectors and controllers, wireless gas detection and calibration equipment. Typical uses are confined-space entry, refinery and petrochemical work, water and wastewater, and leak detection, with intrinsically safe approvals on the portable models.

Ordering RKI monitors

Tell us the gases and ranges, whether diffusion or sample-draw is needed, battery type and the approval marking required on site. We check the sensor configuration and calibration gas against the manufacturer datasheet before quoting. Pump-sampling units suit pre-entry checks of tanks and manholes, while compact diffusion monitors suit personal protection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which gases does the RKI GX-Force measure?
Combustibles (0-100% LEL), oxygen (0-40 vol%), carbon monoxide (0-2,000 ppm) and hydrogen sulfide (0-200 ppm).
How far can it sample?
The internal pump supports a 100 ft (about 30 m) sampling range at a nominal 0.5 L/min.
What is Leak Check mode?
A second operating mode in which the GX-Force monitors combustibles in the ppm range for leak investigations.
How long does the battery last?
About 30 hours on the lithium-ion battery under the datasheet test conditions, charged over USB-C.
Is the GX-Force intrinsically safe?
Yes. The datasheet lists IECEx and ATEX Ex ia IIC T4 Ga (Ex da ia with the NCR-6309 sensor) and cQPSus Class I Div 1 Groups A-D.
