DURAG D-UG 120 Flame Monitor Control Unit

Description

A DIN-rail control unit that evaluates optical flame sensor signals

The DURAG D-UG 120 is a self-monitoring, fail-safe control unit for monitoring gas, oil and coal flames with DURAG UV, UV+IR or IR flame sensors, primarily in single-burner view applications. It analyses the flame radiation through the signal of the connected sensor, shows the operating status on an LED display, and provides the flame intensity as a 0/4 to 20 mA output for further evaluation. It is suited to power stations, refineries, chemical plants, cement plants, waste incinerators, steam generators and heating plants.

The unit mounts on a TS 35 DIN rail, so it takes little space in a control cabinet, and commissioning is simple because the switching threshold is set on a single 0 to 9 scale. DURAG lists it as supporting safety chains up to SIL 3.

Matching flame sensors and accessories

The datasheet names the D-LE 103 for standard applications, the D-LE 603 for selective flame monitoring, the D-LE 701/703 for special applications with fibre optics, and the D-GT 800 for particularly harsh environments. Sensors for Ex applications are also available from DURAG. Listed accessories include the D-NG 24/05 power supply unit for 230 V ac, the D-ZS 087-20 digital display that measures pulse rate and extremes for flame sensor adjustment, the D-ZS 118 optical adjustment aid, UV-C and UV-A/UV-B/IR test light sources, a swivel mount, a thermal isolator, a ball valve for the sighting tube, and the D-ZS 140/141 terminal box design.

For a standard single-burner arrangement, the sensor to pair with this unit is the

DURAG D-LE 103 optical flame sensor.

What to confirm before ordering

Confirm the flame sensor type and fuel, the 24 V dc supply (or the D-NG 24/05 adapter for a 230 V ac feed), the relay logic required by the burner management system, and the SIL level the safety loop must reach. See also related equipment under flame detection and sensors.

About brand

Burner ignition and flame monitoring are the combustion side of DURAG, a Hamburg manufacturer founded in 1948 that is equally known for dust and emission monitors on stacks. Seven Star LLC supplies DURAG combustion equipment to power stations and process plants in Oman. One of the products listed on this page is the D-HG 400 high energy ignition device, used to light gas and oil burners.

DURAG ignition and flame monitoring equipment

A high energy igniter such as the D-HG 400 stores electrical energy and discharges it as a spark at the tip of an ignition lance. DURAG lists compact versions, where lance and ignition unit form one assembly, and separated versions, where the unit is joined to the lance by a high-voltage cable. Lance length is set by the burner. DURAG also builds flame monitors and flame scanners, gas-fired ignition and pilot burners, and D-R series dust monitors for emission measurement.

Ordering DURAG ignition parts: what we need

Send the complete type and serial number from the ignition unit, the supply voltage, whether the version is compact or separated, the lance length and diameter, whether the lance is fixed or retractable, and the cable length between unit and lance. For spark tips and lances, a photo and the dimensions of the old part help. State the hazardous area requirement if there is one. We serve sites across the GCC and check each item against DURAG documentation.
