Lovato DMED100T1 Single-Phase Energy Meter 40 A Direct
Description
Lovato DMED100T1 single-phase energy meter, 40 A direct
The Lovato DMED100T1 is a single-phase kilowatt-hour meter in a one-module DIN-rail housing with direct connection up to 40 A. It measures active energy to accuracy class 1 and provides a pulse output for remote counting. Seven Star LLC supplies the DMED100T1 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.
The part number is the catalogue designation itself: DMED is the energy meter family, and the catalogue lists this variant as a single-phase direct-connection meter. The meter is used for sub-metering a tenant, a machine or a circuit, where the three-phase DMED301 or the DMED300T2 would be too much.

How the DMED100T1 measures and reports energy
The meter multiplies instantaneous voltage and current and integrates the result into kilowatt-hours. Class 1 accuracy applies between the transition current of 0.5 A and Imax of 40 A for the specified conditions, and the meter begins to count from a starting current of 20 mA, so small standby loads are not lost.
Two pulse signals are available. A front LED flashes at 1000 pulses per kWh so a technician can verify the meter against a reference load, and a static output gives 10 pulses per kWh for a PLC or energy gateway. The static output needs an external 10 to 30 V DC supply and can carry up to 50 mA.
DMED100T1 in a metering scheme
A common arrangement installs one DMED100T1 per tenant or machine, wires the static outputs to a pulse counter and reads totals in a monitoring system. Where a serial interface is needed on a three-phase circuit, the DMED301 offers RS485. For circuits above 40 A or for three-phase loads a different meter is needed, because this unit is limited to circuits up to 40 A.
DMED100T1 selection checklist
- Single-phase supply of 230 V nominal
- Load current below the 40 A maximum
- Class 1 accuracy suitable for sub-metering
- Pulse output needs and the supply for the output
- One-module space on the rail
- Environmental temperature up to 55 °C
- Whether a billing-grade certified meter is required, which should be confirmed separately
Installing the DMED100T1
Install on a 35 mm rail, connect the load through the fixed terminals and keep the incoming conductor sized for the circuit protection. Tighten to the specified torque. Mount upstream a miniature circuit breaker rated for the cable, since the meter itself has no protective function.
Verify the first readings by comparing the displayed energy with a known load over a short test, and record the opening meter reading for later billing or reporting.
Typical DMED100T1 applications in Oman and the GCC
Typical uses include tenant sub-metering in offices and labour camps, monitoring of air-conditioning circuits, which dominate energy use in the region, and allocation of costs to machines in workshops. Switch-room temperatures remain inside the -25 to +55 °C limit if the board is ventilated.

For tenant billing, check whether the local utility or landlord requires a meter with a specific certification or sealing. The catalogue data describe accuracy class 1 under IEC standard 62053-21 but do not make this meter a legal billing device on their own, so confirm the requirement before ordering. For internal cost allocation and energy awareness, class 1 is more than adequate. Label each meter with the area it serves and keep a record of the opening reading, the date and the serial number, which makes later disputes and audits much easier to settle.
Reading the numbers correctly also helps. Imin, 0.25 A, is the lowest current at which the stated accuracy is guaranteed, Iref (5 A) is the reference level, and Imax (40 A) is the highest continuous current. A circuit that spends most of its time below 0.5 A, such as a lightly loaded lighting circuit, can show larger percentage errors than a circuit running at 10 to 30 A. In such a case compare the total over a month against an upstream reference before drawing conclusions. The meter withstands 4 kV at power frequency and 6 kV impulse, which gives good margin against switching transients on the supply.

Site conditions in Oman for the DMED100T1
Electrical rooms and outdoor panels in the Gulf often operate well above the 25 °C reference temperature used in many catalogues. Before you finalise the DMED100T1, compare the expected panel temperature with the operating range and any output derating stated in the manufacturer documentation, and leave the recommended clearance above and below the device for convection. Supply quality also varies between sites, so confirm the input voltage range, frequency and any requirements for protection on the supply side.
Where the device feeds or monitors critical loads, plan how faults will be signalled to the control system and how a replacement can be installed quickly. Keeping one spare DMED100T1 per site and recording its settings helps maintenance teams in Oman restore service with minimum downtime.

Lovato order codes describe the product. On a contactor such as BF0910A230, "BF09" is the frame and rated current (9 A in AC-3), "10" is the built-in auxiliary contact (one normally open), "A" means an AC coil and "230" is the coil voltage. The coil voltage must match the control circuit exactly, so it is the most common detail to check when replacing one. For motors, a soft starter limits the inrush current at start and stop, while a variable speed drive controls the speed continuously and saves energy on pumps and fans that do not need full flow all the time.
Where Lovato products are used
In Oman and the GCC, Lovato components are built into motor control centres, pump and HVAC panels, capacitor banks for power factor correction, generator and ATS panels, and machine control panels for industry, water and buildings.
