Accuenergy Acuvim II Advanced Power and Energy Meter

Description

Acuvim II is the Accuenergy multifunction power and energy meter for panels and switchgear, with class 0.1s active energy (IEC 62053-22) and ANSI C12.20 class 0.1. It is offered as the Acuvim IIR and as the Acuvim IIW, which adds IEC 61000-4-30 class S power quality event measurement, in a 96 mm panel meter or a DIN rail transducer form.

A modular meter that grows with the project

The base meter samples at 512 samples per cycle, measures harmonics up to the 63rd order, and offers a Fast Read mode with a 20 ms Modbus refresh rate and fast logging at 100 ms and 50 ms intervals. A custom moving-average frequency filter gives 0.001 Hz resolution, with a window of 1 to 50 cycles. The 4th CT input measures neutral current.

Up to three plug-in modules can be attached: a communication module (AXM-WEB2, WEB2-D, WEB2-FOLC, NET2 or RS485) and I/O modules adding digital, relay, analogue, residual-current (RCM) and RTD temperature channels. The WEB2 option expands logging memory from 8 MB to 8 GB and adds protocols from IEC 61850 2nd Edition to PROFINET.

Features stated in the datasheet

  • Three assignable historical logs, real-time clock and four-tariff time-of-use energy.
  • Up to 16 alarms chosen from 80 available parameters, triggering the alarm DO.
  • Dual-source energy (grid and generator) in the function list; waveform capture on trigger, DI change, sag or swell.
  • Acuvim IIW: class S readings at 10/12 cycles, 150/180 cycles, 10 minutes and 2 hours, plus class S PQ events with duration.

Order code and modules

The code is Meter Model – Mounting Option – Frequency – Current Input – Power Supply. Models: Acuvim IIR (data logging, TOU) and Acuvim IIW (IIR plus waveform capture and PQ event logging); mounting D (LCD panel meter) or M (DIN rail transducer without display); blank for standard frequency or 400 for 400 Hz; current 5A, mV or mA; power supply P1V3 or P2V3. Examples printed: Acuvim-IIR-M-mV-P2V3 and Acuvim-IIW-D-5A-P1V3.

Add -S after the power supply for the anti-tampering seal option. At most three modules may be attached; install a communication module first on the back, and use no more than two of the same I/O module.

Installation notes

Accuenergy suggests three CTs for each three-phase circuit and a USB-RS485 converter for set-up. The DIN-rail version uses the optional AXM-DIN adapter and can have a remote display (REM-DS2); an IP66/NEMA 4X cover is available for harsher locations.

Specification values on this page come from the datasheet; confirm wiring and module configuration against the current user manual before commissioning.

Applications

Listed uses include submetering, energy management, energy storage and microgrids, substations and distribution, power generation, transformer monitoring, load banks, building automation, measurement and verification, PDUs and data centres. General engineering note: the IIW suits plants that need to log sags and swells in oil and gas and petrochemical switchgear.

Commissioning and enquiry notes

Set the wiring mode, CT and PT ratios and communication settings at commissioning, and synchronise the clock so recorded events match other systems. Oman’s networks run at 50 Hz. Check panel temperature in summer.
