Selec EM4M-3P-C-100A Direct 100 A DIN-Rail Energy Meter

Description

A direct-connected 100 A energy meter that needs no current transformers

The Selec EM4M-3P-C-100A is a DIN-rail, self-powered three-phase energy meter that connects directly to the circuit up to 100 A (reference current Ib 10 A, range 0.5 A to 100 A). There is no CT to size, wire or short-circuit, which saves panel space and commissioning time on sub-circuits.

Three LCD rows (one of four digits and two of seven digits) show voltage, current, frequency, power factor, active, reactive and apparent power and energy, with import and export registers and maximum demand. Two pulse outputs and RS485 Modbus RTU pass the data on, and energy is retained for ten years without power.

Datasheet features

  • Self powered from the measured voltage; bi-directional (import and export) measurement
  • Two pulse outputs and Modbus RTU communication
  • Maximum demand power; 3-phase true RMS voltage and current

Order code on the datasheet

One product code is printed: EM4M-3P-C-100A, with 85 to 285 V AC L-N (150 to 494 V AC L-L) self-powered supply, two pulse outputs and RS485. Selec also publishes a MID-marked code (EM4M-3P-C-100A-MID) in the same instruction manual; that is a different order code and is not the one on this page.

Direct connection and DIN-rail fitting

Because the meter is direct connected, the load conductors pass through its terminals, so cable size and tightening torque matter: the datasheet shows 35 mm2 (2 AWG, 75 degC minimum) and 0.68 to 0.79 N-m, and the manual says connector screws must be tightened after installation.

  • Choose the wiring mode (1P2W, 3P3W, 3P4W) in configuration before energising loads.
  • Use lugged terminals and keep the layout away from EMI sources.
  • Fit the meter inside a panel; the manual limits use to indoor sites without steam or caustic vapour.

Where a 100 A direct meter fits

The EM4M suits sub-metering of tenant units, villas, camp buildings, workshop distribution boards and HVAC feeders up to 100 A, where installing CTs would cost more than the meter. Import/export measurement helps on feeders that can back-feed, such as solar-supported boards, and the pulse outputs can drive a remote counter or tariff logic. Fit indoors in a ventilated panel within the -10 to +55 degC window.

Selection and installation notes

A panel energy meter is selected from the wiring system, the current range and the outputs needed. Check whether the meter is direct-connected or CT-operated, set the CT ratio before reading, connect the voltage inputs through suitable fuses, respect the phase order and the polarity of the CTs and set the communication parameters when it is read by a BMS or energy system. Compare the first readings with a reference meter.

Information needed for a quotation

Send the full model code, the quantity, the delivery location in Oman or the GCC, the intended use and any accessories needed, so that the complete package can be quoted together.

Documents and supply information

The manufacturer data sheet is attached to this page and should be read together with the project specification and the site risk assessment before a purchase is confirmed. Ratings, standards and dimensions are quoted as printed on that sheet. Lead time, stock position and certificates available with the shipment are confirmed in the quotation, and we supply to Oman and the wider GCC region for industrial, utility and building services projects.

Related items

No CT is needed up to 100 A. For feeders above that rating, use a CT-operated meter such as the Selec EM368 on this site. Plan an RS485 terminator and gateway for Modbus, and an external fuse or breaker upstream as your design requires.
