Endress+Hauser Promag D 10 Wafer Electromagnetic Flowmeter
Description
Endress+Hauser Promag D 10 wafer electromagnetic flowmeter
The Endress+Hauser Promag D 10 is a compact wafer-type electromagnetic flowmeter for basic water applications where installation space is small and where plastic pipe is common. It measures the volume flow of conductive liquids with no moving parts and no pressure loss in the pipe. The Promag D 10 is the entry-level hygienic-free water meter in the Proline range: a straightforward hardware and software concept, a polyamide liner, stainless steel electrodes and integrated stainless steel grounding disks that make plastic-pipe installations simpler. Seven Star LLC supplies the Promag D 10 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat.
It is intended for utilities, building services, irrigation and general process water rather than for aggressive chemicals, and it carries international drinking-water approvals per the manufacturer. Communication options include HART, Modbus RS485 and IO-Link, and the optional display plus Bluetooth app make local operation straightforward.
Working principle of the Promag D 10
A coil pair generates a DC magnetic field across the pipe. Conductive liquid moving through this field induces a voltage proportional to flow velocity, which two electrodes in the liner pick up. The transmitter converts the voltage into volume flow using the pipe cross-section. Because the signal depends on velocity and not on pressure, density, temperature or viscosity, the Promag D 10 is bidirectional and holds its calibration with changing process conditions. The minimum conductivity is 5 µS/cm for liquids in general and 20 µS/cm for demineralised water.
Promag D 10 ranges and construction
The datasheet lists a measuring range of 9 dm³/min up to 282 m³/h, a flow error of ±0.5 % of reading ±1 mm/s, and process connections for PN 16, ASME Class 150 and JIS 10K lines. The liner is polyamide with a medium temperature of 0 to +60 °C, and the electrodes are 1.4435 (316L). Typical velocity is 0.01 to 10 m/s with the stated accuracy.
The ambient temperature range is −20 to +60 °C for the standard device with a display; the document also gives −40 to +60 °C without a display, so check the version you need. The degree of protection is IP66/67 with Type 4X enclosure.

Selection checklist for the Promag D 10
Confirm first that the fluid is water-based and conductive. Then match the wafer body to the pipe flange standard, and decide whether the pipe is metal or plastic: in an unlined metal pipe the grounding must be bonded with the supplied disks or rings, and in plastic pipe the integrated grounding disks provide the reference potential. Select the output (HART, Modbus RS485 or IO-Link), the power supply (the document gives DC and AC options) and whether a display is needed. For billing-grade or very low-conductivity water, consider the Promag W or P family instead.
Installing and commissioning the Promag D 10
The housing is designed so the sensor centres easily between flanges, which cuts installation time. Keep the pipe full at the meter, avoid mounting near the highest point where air collects, and respect the inlet and outlet runs given in the installation chapter. Establish potential equalisation as the document describes. The SmartBlue app connects to the transmitter over Bluetooth with an access code and Bluetooth key, so commissioning does not require opening the housing in the field; change the delivery access code after commissioning.
Typical Promag D 10 applications in Oman and the GCC
Across the Gulf the Promag D 10 suits cooling-water make-up, small potable-water and desalinated-water distribution lines, chilled-water metering, irrigation headers and landscaping, and package plants for water treatment. Where the pipe is GRP or PVC, the wafer design with integrated grounding is convenient, and the polyamide liner is intended for cold or ambient water only; for hot water or chemicals, use another Promag liner.
Promag D 10 within the Promag family
The Promag D 10 sits at the basic end beside the hygienic Promag H 10 and the larger water-oriented Promag W series. Compared with the 100- or 300-series devices it has a simpler transmitter, fewer output choices and a lower price class, so it is a good fit when a plain flow reading, a pulse for totalising and perhaps a digital link are enough.

Site conditions in Oman for the Promag D 10
Field instruments in Oman are exposed to strong sun, high ambient temperature, wind-blown dust and, on coastal plants, salt in the air. When you specify the Promag D 10, check the ambient and process temperature limits, the enclosure rating and the wetted and housing materials against the actual installation point, and consider sunshades for transmitters mounted in direct sunlight. Cable entries should be sealed with suitable glands so that dust and moisture cannot enter the housing.
Calibration and verification planning matters as much as selection. Record the range, configuration and tag data of each Promag D 10 at commissioning, define a check interval that suits the criticality of the loop, and keep the certificates with the plant documentation so that audits and shutdown work can proceed without delay.
Documents and quotation
A copy of the manufacturer technical information for the Promag D 10 is attached on this page so you can check ranges, connections and ordering codes against your specification.
Send the full order code or the process data (fluid, temperature, pressure, line size or tank data, output and approvals) and Seven Star LLC will prepare a quotation and confirm lead time. We are an independent supplier in Muscat and do not represent the manufacturer.

About brand
Endress+Hauser makes process measurement instruments for flow, level, pressure, temperature and liquid analysis. Georg H. Endress and Ludwig Hauser started the business in Lörrach, Germany, on 1 February 1953, first selling level meters, and the Endress+Hauser name has been used since 1957. The group is headquartered in Reinach, Switzerland, and has been wholly owned by the Endress family since 1975.
Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier listing Endress+Hauser flowmeters, level and pressure transmitters, temperature assemblies and liquid analysis products for buyers in Oman and the GCC. Instruments are matched from the full order code on the nameplate.

Where Endress+Hauser instruments are used
In Oman and the GCC, Endress+Hauser instruments are common in oil and gas production and processing, refineries and petrochemicals, desalination and water networks, wastewater treatment, power plants and food and beverage plants. Coriolis meters measure hydrocarbon and chemical flows, electromagnetic meters cover water and wastewater, radar transmitters handle tank and silo level, and Liquiline analysers monitor water quality. Proline 300 and 500 flowmeters include Heartbeat Technology for in-situ verification, which reduces the need to remove a meter for checks.
Ordering Endress+Hauser instruments: what we need
The order code on the nameplate (for example PMP71-1QA1S11RDADU) defines every option: measuring range, process connection, materials, output, approvals and display. Send it with the serial number; Endress+Hauser can retrieve the original configuration from the serial number. For a new instrument add the medium, operating and design pressure and temperature, range, line size or tank geometry, process connection, wetted materials, output or protocol (4-20 mA HART, PROFIBUS, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, Modbus) and the hazardous-area approval required. Older models such as Promass 80/83 or Micropilot M are replaced by current Proline or 80 GHz Micropilot devices.

FAQ
Questions about the Endress+Hauser Promag D 10 Wafer Electromagnetic
Answers from our engineering team on installation, compatibility and integration.
01What medium can the Promag D 10 measure?
Conductive liquids, mainly water. The minimum conductivity is 5 µS/cm, or 20 µS/cm for demineralised water.
02What is the flow range and accuracy?
The product page gives 9 dm³/min to 282 m³/h with a standard error of ±0.5 % of reading plus 1 mm/s.
03Can it be installed in plastic pipe?
Yes. Integrated stainless steel grounding disks give the transmitter its reference potential, which is the main reason for the wafer design in plastic piping.
04What is the temperature limit?
The polyamide liner is rated 0 to +60 °C, so the device is for cold and ambient water, not hot-water or steam-heated lines.
05Which communication options exist?
HART, Modbus RS485 and IO-Link, with an optional display and Bluetooth access through the SmartBlue app.
