Endress+Hauser Promag H 100 Hygienic Electromagnetic Flowmeter
Description
Promag H 100 hygienic electromagnetic flowmeter with ultra-compact transmitter
The Endress+Hauser Promag H 100 is an electromagnetic flowmeter for small and medium lines where hygiene, cleanability and a small footprint matter: dairy, beverage, food, life sciences and clean chemical duty. It combines a PFA-lined stainless steel sensor from DN 2 to DN 150 with the Proline 100 transmitter, available as an aluminum compact housing or as a hygienic stainless steel ultra-compact housing. Seven Star LLC supplies Endress+Hauser flow instruments in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat; this page describes the Promag H 100 so that a quotation request is complete the first time.
Promag H 100 identifies the product line, and the order code defines the actual configuration: nominal diameter, process connection, seal material, electrode material, output, sensor options and approvals. It is a compact device only; for a remote transmitter see the Promag H 500 on a sister page.

Measuring principle and the multivariable option of the Promag H 100
A magnetic field with switched direct current is applied across the tube. The flowing liquid acts as the moving conductor, so the voltage that develops at the electrodes is proportional to velocity, and volume flow follows from the cross-section. Pressure, density, temperature and viscosity have little influence, and there are no moving parts or flow restrictions to clean around. The sensor is declared CIP and SIP capable, and the 3-A and EHEDG options apply to the sensor housing and the hygienic process connections.
Where the medium temperature option is ordered on DN 15 to 150, the device adds temperature and conductivity measurement and calculates mass flow and corrected volume flow. That removes a separate temperature sensor from a hygienic line and gives an early indication of product changeovers on a conductivity change.
Compact housing choices and communication on the Promag H 100
Two transmitter housings are offered. The coated aluminum compact housing suits general process areas. The stainless steel hygienic compact or ultra-compact housing, made of 1.4301 (304), fits wash-down areas where aluminum is not acceptable. A local display is available. Configuration is possible with FieldCare or DeviceCare, and also through the integrated web server on the HART, EtherNet/IP and PROFINET versions, which saves carrying extra software to site.
The 4–20 mA HART output is active with a 0 to 700 Ω load, and the pulse/frequency/switch output is passive open collector, up to 30 V and 25 mA, with a pulse rate up to 10,000 pulses per second. The power consumption is 3.5 W maximum on every output version. The device uses a 5-pin M12 plug, so cabling and replacement are fast.
Where Promag H 100 fits among related Promag models
For DN 2 to 150 hygienic duty the choice is usually between Promag H 100 (compact) and Promag H 500 (remote transmitter with up to four I/Os, Zone 1 option). For larger, rugged process lines the PTFE-lined Promag E 100 covers DN 15 to 600 with an aluminum sensor housing, and the battery-powered Promag W 800 is the water-network option. The Promag H 300 adds further transmitter choices. Use Promag H 100 when a simple compact device with web server access is enough.
Selecting the Promag H 100: connections, seals and approvals
- Process connection: welding nipple (EN 10357/DIN 11850, ASME BPE, ISO 2037), clamp (ISO 2852, ISO 2853, DIN 32676), coupling (DIN 11851, DIN 11864-1, SMS 1145), DIN 11864-2 flange, plus industrial flange, thread, hose and PVC sleeve variants with O-ring seal.
- Seals: EPDM, FKM, silicone or Kalrez, depending on size and connection. The manufacturer notes EPDM is not suitable for fluids with fat content above 8 %.
- Wetted materials: PFA liner, stainless steel 1.4404 (F316L), PVDF or PVC connections; electropolished electrodes.
- Surface finish: Ramax 0.76 µm on aseptic connections, 0.38 µm electropolished as an option.
- Output and bus: HART, PROFIBUS DP, Modbus RS485, EtherNet/IP or PROFINET.
- Hazardous area: ATEX/IECEx Ex nA IIC T6–T1 Gc (category II3G) and cCSAus Class I Division 2 non-incendive versions are listed for Zone 2 type duty.
- Verification: Heartbeat Verification and Monitoring package for traceable testing in the installed state.
Installation, CIP/SIP and maintenance for the Promag H 100
Install in a completely filled pipe, with a rising section or a point where the line is always full. The device has an electronics housing tolerant of CIP and SIP, but the datasheet warns that strong heat from cleaning must not overheat the transmitter, so mount it in a position where it can lose heat. Wet-environment sites should use the harsh-environment option, which pots the sensor housing in gel for extra protection against condensation; this IP68 option applies to fluid temperatures only up to +130 °C. Keep the protective caps in place until the meter is fitted, store it dry and out of direct sun, and do not use the transmitter as a handle.
Typical applications in Oman and the GCC
In Oman and the wider Gulf the Promag H 100 is used on dairy and juice filling lines, bottled water plants, pharmaceutical batching, and clean chemical dosing. Its small size also fits skid-mounted dosing units for desalination post-treatment and water conditioning, where line sizes are small and cleaning is frequent. High ambient temperature is manageable: the transmitter is rated to +60 °C and the PFA liner to +150 °C, but exposed outdoor installations should be shaded and protected from direct sunlight.

Where Endress+Hauser instruments are used
In Oman and the GCC, Endress+Hauser instruments are common in oil and gas production and processing, refineries and petrochemicals, desalination and water networks, wastewater treatment, power plants and food and beverage plants. Coriolis meters measure hydrocarbon and chemical flows, electromagnetic meters cover water and wastewater, radar transmitters handle tank and silo level, and Liquiline analysers monitor water quality. Proline 300 and 500 flowmeters include Heartbeat Technology for in-situ verification, which reduces the need to remove a meter for checks.
Ordering Endress+Hauser instruments: what we need
The order code on the nameplate (for example PMP71-1QA1S11RDADU) defines every option: measuring range, process connection, materials, output, approvals and display. Send it with the serial number; Endress+Hauser can retrieve the original configuration from the serial number. For a new instrument add the medium, operating and design pressure and temperature, range, line size or tank geometry, process connection, wetted materials, output or protocol (4-20 mA HART, PROFIBUS, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, Modbus) and the hazardous-area approval required. Older models such as Promass 80/83 or Micropilot M are replaced by current Proline or 80 GHz Micropilot devices.

FAQ
Questions about the Endress+Hauser Promag H 100 Hygienic
Answers from our engineering team on installation, compatibility and integration.
01What does the Promag H 100 measure?
It measures volume flow of conductive liquids electromagnetically. With the medium temperature option on DN 15 to 150 it also gives temperature, conductivity, mass flow, corrected volume flow and corrected conductivity.
02What are the temperature and size limits?
The medium temperature range is –20 to +150 °C and the nominal diameter range is DN 2 to 150. The PFA liner and stainless steel sensor housing are CIP and SIP capable.
03Which communication options exist?
The compact transmitter is ordered with 4–20 mA HART plus pulse/frequency/switch output, PROFIBUS DP, Modbus RS485, EtherNet/IP or PROFINET. Power supply is DC 20 to 30 V in all cases.
04Is the Promag H 100 suitable for food and pharmaceutical use?
Optional 3-A and EHEDG marking, FDA 21 CFR 177 and USP Class VI conformity, and a cGMP declaration option are described in the technical information. They apply to configurations ordered with the matching options.
05What is the minimum conductivity?
The liquid should have at least 5 µS/cm. Purified or deionized water below that level is not suited to electromagnetic measurement and needs another principle.
