Rosemount 3051T In-Line Pressure Transmitter

Description

Overview

The Rosemount 3051T is the in-line member of the Rosemount 3051 pressure transmitter family. The official product data sheet calls the Rosemount 3051T in-line pressure transmitters the industry standard for gage and absolute pressure measurement, and explains that the compact in-line design lets the transmitter connect directly to a process for quick and cost-effective installation. It is offered as the 3051TG for gage pressure and the 3051TA for absolute pressure, with ranges that reach 20,000 psi, which sets it apart from the coplanar 3051C models that concentrate on differential duty.

As a trusted supplier of Rosemount products in Oman and the GCC, Seven Star LLC supplies the Rosemount 3051T In-Line Pressure Transmitter with the Rosemount 3051T datasheet and regional technical backing. Engineers in Muscat, Sohar and Salalah can choose the pressure type, range, connection and output from one source and receive a configured device ready for installation.

Operating Principle

The Rosemount 3051T uses a sensor module with an isolating diaphragm in a threaded in-line body. Process pressure deflects the diaphragm and the fill fluid, silicone or inert halocarbon, transfers the pressure to the sensor, where it is converted to a digital value and corrected in the electronics. A gage version references atmosphere, so the lower range limit assumes atmospheric pressure of 14.7 psig, while the absolute version references a vacuum and starts at 0 psia. The transmitter updates its measurement 22 times per second, and its total response time is 100 ms with the HART output and 152 ms with FOUNDATION Fieldbus or PROFIBUS PA.

The data sheet quotes reference accuracy of 0.04 percent of span for ranges 1 to 4 and 0.075 percent of span for ranges 5 and 6, with long-term stability of 0.2 percent of upper range limit for ten years on ranges 1 to 4. Burst pressure is 11,016 psi for ranges 0 to 4, 26,016 psig for range 5 and 46,092 psi for range 6. Because the sensor and connection are in one compact body, the Rosemount 3051T avoids the extra flange joints and impulse tubing that differential transmitters need, making it especially suitable for high static pressures.

Engineering Design of the Rosemount 3051T

Isolating diaphragms are 316L stainless steel or alloy C-276, with gold-plated versions of both available, and the process connection wetted parts match the diaphragm material. A 316L stainless steel in-line version is also offered with a non-threaded instrument flange for ranges 1 to 4. Housings include aluminum, ultra low copper aluminum and stainless steel with ½-14 NPT or M20 entries, and the wireless version uses an engineered polymer housing. A transmitter weighs 3.0 lb (1.4 kg) without options, or 1.9 lb (0.86 kg) in the wireless version, which is considerably less than the 6.0 lb of a 3051C.

The Rosemount 3051T can be fitted with a back-lit graphical display with local language capability, Bluetooth connectivity for configuration from a safe distance, external configuration buttons that allow work in hazardous areas without removing the cover, and an optional 306 two-valve integral manifold. Process temperature limits for silicone fill are –40 to 121 °C and the ambient range follows the 3051 family limits. Material selections can follow NACE MR0175 and MR0103 recommendations for sour service.

Industrial Applications

The Rosemount 3051T is the logical choice for line pressure, discharge pressure, wellhead and manifold pressure, hydraulic and high-pressure skid measurement, and any service where a single process connection is preferred to a coplanar flange. Absolute versions are used for vacuum and barometric reference, steam and condensate systems, and distillation columns. In Oman these duties occur at wellheads and gathering systems, gas plants, compressor stations, desalination high-pressure pumps and utility steam systems, including facilities near Sohar and Salalah.

In Oman and the GCC, Seven Star LLC supplies the Rosemount 3051T to operators, EPC contractors and instrumentation maintenance teams across Oman and the wider GCC. About brand
The Rosemount 3051 is one of the most frequently specified pressure transmitters in process plants, and it sits at the center of this listing. Rosemount, a measurement brand that dates from 1956 and has its home in Shakopee, USA, covers pressure, temperature, level and flow with instruments identified by a model string on the nameplate. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier listing Rosemount pressure transmitters, level instruments, temperature transmitters, flowmeters and analytical sensors for sites in Oman and the GCC.

Rosemount product families on this page

Pressure includes the 3051 in its variants (3051T in-line, 3051L for liquid level, 3051CF DP flowmeter and the 3051SMV MultiVariable transmitter), the 2051 and 1199 diaphragm seal systems. Level instruments are the 3300 guided wave radar, the 5408 non-contacting radar and the 2120 vibrating fork switch. Temperature is covered by the 248 and 644 head mount transmitters and the 848T high density transmitter for multiple sensor inputs. The 8800D vortex flowmeter and the 702 wireless discrete transmitter are also listed, along with liquid analysis sensors.

Where Rosemount instruments are used

These are standard instruments in oil and gas production, refining, petrochemical, power and water plants. Typical duties are line and vessel pressure, differential pressure flow across orifice plates, tank and separator level and interface, and temperature measurement on pipes, reactors and rotating equipment.

Ordering Rosemount transmitters: what we need

Send the complete model string and the serial number from the nameplate; a photo is ideal. Every character of the string selects something: range, output, materials of the isolating diaphragm and flange, process connection, housing, approval and options. If you are specifying a new point, give the measured variable and span, process fluid, pressure and temperature, connection, output (4-20 mA HART, FOUNDATION Fieldbus or wireless), display and hazardous area approval. For remote seals add flange size, rating and capillary length.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between the Rosemount 3051T and the 3051C?
The 3051T is an in-line transmitter that connects directly to the process through a threaded or coned connection and measures gage or absolute pressure only. The 3051C is a coplanar transmitter that measures differential, gage or absolute pressure and mounts to manifolds, flanges and primary elements.
Which pressure ranges does the Rosemount 3051T cover?
Gage versions run from range 0 at –5 to 5 psi up to range 6 at –14.7 to 20,000 psi. Absolute versions run from range 1 at 0 to 30 psia to range 6 at 0 to 20,000 psia, so the family covers low pressure monitoring through ultra-high-pressure service.
What diagnostics does the Rosemount 3051T provide?
Option code DA1 adds the Loop Integrity diagnostic, which monitors the electrical loop for corrosion, water in the housing or an unstable supply, and the Plugged Impulse Line diagnostic. Diagnostic events are stored in a built-in log, and Bluetooth configuration is available with the graphical display.
Which process connections are offered on the Rosemount 3051T?
Standard connections are ½-14 NPT female for ranges 0 to 5 and G½ A EN 837-1 male for ranges 0 to 4. Ranges 5 and 6 can use a coned and threaded connection compatible with autoclave F-250-C, and a non-threaded instrument flange is available for ranges 1 to 4.
