Zebra ZD621 Desktop Label Printer with Ethernet and Serial

Description

The Zebra ZD621 is the higher-specification desktop printer of the ZD600 family. It prints barcode labels, tags and wristbands by direct thermal or thermal transfer at up to 8 in. per second, with 10/100 Ethernet, serial and USB 2.0 with USB host as standard and an optional 4.3 in. full-colour touch LCD.

A networked desktop printer for busier stations

Busy goods-in, stores, sample-handling and dispatch stations need a printer that connects to the network without add-ons. The ZD621 includes a media dancer for print quality, OpenACCESS loading, head-up sensor, multi-position transmissive and full-width reflective sensor, fan-fold slot and 5 in. outside-diameter roll capability, plus 256 MB SDRAM and 512 MB Flash, Link-OS, Print Touch and Bluetooth LE for set-up.

RFID models integrate the Zebra RE40 reader/encoder and support UHF EPC Gen 2 V2.1, ISO/IEC 18000-63 and RAIN RFID tags with a minimum pitch of 0.6 in. (16 mm).

Healthcare and RFID variants

Healthcare models use a white, disinfectant-ready plastic housing with a sealed button interface, UV-resistant material for UV cleaning protocols and an IEC 60601-1 certified power supply; RFID models print and encode tags and offer job monitoring, an RFID log with timestamps, adaptive encoding and RFID ZPL commands compatible with existing Zebra RFID printers. Both desktop models run Link-OS, so ZPL II label formats written for other Zebra printers can normally be reused, and the printer can be set up through the Bluetooth Low Energy mobile app before it is connected to the network.

Choosing the ZD621 and ordering

Choose the ZD621 over the ZD421 when Ethernet and serial are needed at the base, when 8 in./s is required, or when a touch display is wanted. For all-shift plant use, choose the industrial ZT series. Confirm thermal transfer or direct thermal, resolution, display, battery, cutter or dispenser, RFID or healthcare version and media before ordering. See also industrial automation accessories.

Deployment notes: set the printer up with the Bluetooth Low Energy mobile app, then assign its network address over Ethernet and manage it with the Link-OS tools. Choose direct thermal stock for short-life shipping and receiving labels, and thermal transfer with a matched ribbon where labels must resist abrasion or heat. The sheet lists a head-up sensor, a multi-position transmissive sensor and a full-width reflective sensor, so gap, notch and black-mark media are all supported, and rolls up to 5 in. outside diameter plus fan-fold stock can be loaded without opening the mechanism fully.
