BARTEC ESP Ex e GRP Junction and Terminal Box
Overview
The BARTEC ESP range covers increased safety (Ex e) and intrinsically safe (Ex i) junction and terminal boxes made from glass-fibre reinforced polyester (GRP) for Zone 1 and Zone 21. They are the everyday building blocks of hazardous area wiring: an instrument cable from a transmitter, a power cable to a motor or a heat tracing circuit is brought into the box through certified cable glands and terminated on rail-mounted terminals. BARTEC offers the boxes in more than 20 sizes, from a small 80 × 75 mm housing up to 600 × 250 mm, and they are engineered to order with the terminals, glands and earth bars each application needs.
Seven Star LLC supplies BARTEC ESP junction and terminal boxes on request to EPC contractors, electrical installers and maintenance departments in Oman and the GCC, with engineering support in Muscat. GRP Ex e boxes are widely used on oil and gas and petrochemical plants in the region because they resist corrosion from salt air, chemicals and UV exposure better than painted steel, and they are lighter to handle and mount on pipe racks and structures.
Protection Principle
Increased safety, Ex e, works by preventing ignition sources from occurring in the first place. Terminals and connections inside a BARTEC ESP box are certified components that hold conductors firmly without loosening, and the design keeps creepage and clearance distances and surface temperatures within safe limits, so no arcs, sparks or hot spots are produced in normal operation. The enclosure supports this by keeping out dust and water with an IP66 rating and by resisting impact. Ex i versions carry intrinsically safe circuits, where the energy available in the circuit is itself too low to ignite a gas mixture.
The ATEX and UKEX marking is II 2G Ex eb ia ib IIA, IIB or IIC T6, T5, T4 or T3 Gb, with matching IECEx marking, so one enclosure family can serve any gas group. For dust, the black version is marked II 2D Ex tb ia ib IIIA, IIIB or IIIC with surface temperatures of T80 °C, T95 °C or T130 °C Db. The final electrical ratings of a BARTEC ESP box depend on the components installed and on a heating calculation for the specific configuration, within maximum values of 1000 V, 690 A and 400 mm² conductor cross-section.
Engineering Design of the BARTEC ESP
The enclosure material is halogen-free glass-fibre reinforced polyester to EN 60079-0. The black version (RAL 9005) is made conductive, with surface resistance below 109 Ω, which is required for dust zones and avoids electrostatic charge; the grey version (RAL 7000/7001) is insulating, with surface resistance above 1012 Ω. The lid is fixed with captive stainless steel cross-head screws, the standard seal is silicone rated from -55 °C to +100 °C with EPDM available as an option, and the enclosure withstands 7 Nm impact energy.
Inside the BARTEC ESP box, threaded bushings in the narrow sides hold terminal rails or mounting plates. The box is fixed with insulated screws outside the lid gasket, so the mounting holes never compromise the seal. The data sheet lists each size with its matching earth bar and mounting plate order numbers, the maximum number of mini, AKZ4 or WDU terminals per rail, and the maximum number of M12 to M63 cable glands on each side. Article numbers follow the pattern 07-3T03 for black Ex e, 07-3T06 for grey Ex e, 07-3T05 for black Ex i and 07-3T07 for grey Ex i.

- Ingress protection is IP66 to EN/IEC 60529, with impact resistance of 7 Nm.
- The ambient temperature range extends from -55 °C to +80 °C, depending on the installed components.
- Captive stainless steel lid screws and mounting outside the gasket keep the seal intact.
- Boxes are engineered to order with terminals, glands, earth bars and labels as required.
Industrial Applications
BARTEC ESP boxes are used as instrument junction boxes for field transmitters and switches, as marshalling boxes for multicore cables, as terminal boxes for heat tracing and lighting circuits, and as power connection boxes for motors and pumps. In Oman, typical installations are on wellhead and gathering station skids, gas processing plants, refinery units, tank farms and marine terminals in Sohar, Duqm and Muscat, and in water and wastewater plants that handle digester gas. The conductive black version is chosen for grain, sulphur and powder handling where combustible dust is present.
Seven Star LLC can supply BARTEC ESP boxes empty or configured with terminals and glands to your drawings. Other BARTEC equipment for the same hazardous areas, such as the Bartec Agile-X Zone 1 tablet used by field technicians, can be quoted on the same order, and we also stock comparable enclosures such as the MEDC SM87JB Ex junction box and the Cooper Crouse-Hinds GUB01 junction box. Our team can help select the right BARTEC ESP size for the terminal count and gland schedule of each location.

The analyzer group is the largest. Under the HYGROPHIL name there are the HYGROPHIL F 5674 process trace moisture analyzer and the Hygrophil HCDT hydrocarbon dew-point analyzer. Under the BARTEC BENKE name there are the RVP-4 vapor pressure process analyzer and the P-600 salt in crude analyzer. The electrical side is represented by the GUB flameproof Ex d IIC enclosure and the 07-1511 series insert switch, a component used inside control stations. The Agile X IS is a tablet PC for Zone 1, and the EXguard is a mobile gas detection system for hot work.Where BARTEC equipment is used
Moisture and hydrocarbon dew-point analyzers monitor natural gas at dehydration units, pipeline entry points and custody stations. Vapor pressure and salt in crude analyzers serve refinery blending and crude treatment. Flameproof enclosures and Ex switches go into local control stations, junction boxes and motor starters. Ex tablets are used for inspection rounds and work permits on GCC oil and gas sites.Ordering BARTEC parts: what we need
BARTEC identifies products by a type number, such as 07-1511-154D/02 or 5674-xx. Send that number in full with the serial number from the label. For analyzers we also need the gas or liquid composition, pressure and temperature at the sample point, the measuring span, the area classification and the signal outputs. For enclosures give the size, the required gas group and temperature class, and the cable entry schedule.Browse BARTEC products by category: Gas Analyzer Systems, Fire & Gas Detector, Liquid Analytical Systems, Industrial Computer, Automation Accessories.
