SEKO Kontrol 102 Water Treatment Controller pH ORP Conductivity

The SEKO Kontrol 102 is a professional two-channel water treatment controller with a 128×128 or 240×128 pixel graphic display, four relays, two solid state pulse outputs, two isolated 4-20 mA outputs and an embedded Wi-Fi module. It measures pH or ORP, conductivity, amperometric chlorine or 4-20 mA signals and temperature, and runs ON/OFF, timed, proportional (PWM) and PID control.

The key code selects which pair of inputs the instrument carries, whether it is a wall or panel box, and the supply voltage.

A two-input controller for cooling towers, pools and process water

Water-treatment controllers sit between the analyser probe and the dosing pump. The Kontrol 102 reads two independent measurements at once, for example pH with conductivity on a cooling tower, pH with chlorine on a potable-water or pool circuit, or two 4-20 mA transmitters on an industrial stream, and drives acid, alkali, biocide or bleed relays accordingly. SEKO states the controller offers full programming autonomy to the operator, with output status, wash cycle and alarms shown as icons on the display, and four selectable backlight colours (white, green, orange and red).

Decoding the key code

The key code example K 102 PR P M 0 000 reads: K Kontrol, 102 series, then the input pair: PR pH/Redox with pH/Redox probes, PD pH/Redox with conductivity probes, PM pH/Redox with 4-20 mA input, MD 4-20 mA with conductivity probes, HC pH/Redox with amperometric chlorine probes, MM double independent 4-20 mA input. Next comes the box: P is panel 96×96 mm and Z is wall 220×144 mm. The supply is M for 100-240 Vac or S for 24-48 Vdc and 24 Vac. The final two fields are optional and set to 0 and 000 in the standard version.

For a cooling tower with a conductivity bleed and pH acid feed choose PD; for a swimming-pool or potable chlorine loop choose HC.

Wiring and commissioning notes

Probe distance can be up to 50 m for conductivity and 10 to 20 m for PT100/PT1000 depending on the sensor. Do not exceed the allowable current on the 24 Vdc probe output or the 4-20 mA loop supply, because the datasheet warns of a risk of damaging the apparatus. Use the relay test mode (ON/OFF) and the 3 to 23 mA analogue test mode during commissioning, then calibrate each input with fresh buffers or standards.

GCC use cases

Typical installations are cooling-tower conductivity and pH control at district cooling, power and refinery plants, chlorine and pH control at pools and water parks, and control of effluent neutralisation. Direct sun on a wall box raises temperature, so place it in shade; the datasheet gives IP65 protection for the enclosure.
