SEKO Tekna ATEX Solenoid Dosing Pump 0.4-110 l/h

The SEKO Tekna ATEX is a solenoid diaphragm dosing pump built for plants that classify part of the site as an ATEX area. It keeps the compact Tekna footprint but swaps the plastic housing for an aluminium enclosure, offers a stainless steel 316L, PVDF or Hastelloy C276 pump head, and carries the marking printed on the datasheet: CE II 3GD, Ex icnA IIB T4 Gc and Ex tc III C T120 C Dc IP65.

One platform covers 0.4 to 110 l/h and up to 20 bar across five sizes.

Where the Tekna ATEX fits in a hazardous-area dosing line

Dosing pumps in process plants are often installed close to storage tanks and day tanks, which is exactly where vapour or dust classification applies. The Tekna ATEX gives a plant engineer a diaphragm metering pump whose control electronics sit in a sealed metal housing rated IP65, while the wetted parts can be chosen to suit the chemical: PVDF for acids and hypochlorite, SS316L for solvents and many hydrocarbons, Hastelloy C276 for aggressive chloride-bearing or oxidising media.

Selection and key code guide

The ATEX key code on page 2 of the datasheet reads left to right as a chain of choices. A complete example is TPG 800 N I 0 2 0 X0: control version TPG, hydraulic size 800, power supply N (100 to 240 Vac, 50/60 Hz), liquid end I (SS316L; the alternative is H for PVDF), installation kit 0 (without kit, which is the only choice for SS316L), seals 2 (PTFE; 0 FKM-B, 1 EPDM, 3 FFKM, with the note that FFKM is not available on size 803), optional 0 (standard) and customisation X0 (standard ATEX).

TPG is the digital version: constant flow, proportional flow from 4-20 mA or pulses, timer, ppm dosing, statistics, password, remote ON-OFF input and MODBUS communication. TCK is the timed version: constant flow plus a weekly programmable timer and a timed relay driven by a dry contact. Pick the size from the pressure column first.

Installation and operation notes

The datasheet restricts the site to 40 C ambient, 90 percent humidity and no direct sun or rain, so in hot climates the pump should sit in shade or an enclosure rather than on an exposed skid. Use the manual priming valve at start-up, keep the suction line short and primed, and fit the injection valve at the point of dosing. Pressure data were measured with the SEKO standard injection fitting. The installation kit is not included for stainless steel versions.

Applications in Oman and the GCC

Typical uses are methanol, corrosion inhibitor and scale inhibitor injection on wellsite and gathering packages, hypochlorite and biocide dosing at cooling towers and seawater intakes, and neutralisation chemicals in effluent plants. ATEX suitability for a specific zone, gas group and temperature class must be confirmed against the plant hazardous-area dossier before ordering.
