Lorch MicorStick 200 Stick (MMA) Welding Inverter

Description

Portable three-phase stick welder for site and maintenance work

The Lorch MicorStick 200 is a compact inverter for manual metal arc (MMA) welding that runs on a three-phase 400 V supply. At 6.3 kg with a carrying strap, it is light enough to take onto scaffolding, into plant rooms or around a construction site, yet it welds electrodes up to 5.0 mm diameter. A TIG-DC function with ContacTIG contact ignition is built in for occasional TIG work with a valve torch.

Lorch designed the MicorStick operation around one-button control and electrode preselection. The welder chooses between standard electrodes and CEL cellulosic electrodes, and the machine applies matching arc characteristics, so vertical-down pipe welding with cellulosic rods and general fabrication with basic or rutile rods can be done from the same unit.

Control panels and the MicorStick family

Two panels are available. BasicPlus keeps operation to a single button and knob with electrode preselection for standard and CEL types. ControlPro, shown in the photo, adds a 7-segment display accurate to the ampere and a submenu for custom system settings.

Model MMA range Supply Weight
MicorStick 160 10-150/160 A 230 V single-phase 4.9 kg
MicorStick 180 10-140 A (115 V) / 10-180 A (230 V) 115 V or 230 V single-phase 6.2 kg
MicorStick 200 10-200 A 400 V three-phase 6.3 kg

The MicorStick 160 can also be run from Lorch MobilePower battery packs in its accu-ready version.

Choosing a stick welder for site use

The 200 A three-phase model is the right choice where 400 V outlets are available and electrodes of 4 mm or 5 mm are used, for example on structural steel, tanks and heavier repair work. On a 16 A three-phase socket it can deliver its full range without the current limits of a domestic single-phase supply. Where only 230 V is available, the MicorStick 180 is the alternative.

Inverter stick welders of this size are also commonly run from site generators. In that case the generator should be sized with a margin above the welder input and should have stable voltage regulation, because large voltage dips under load can trip the protection of the power source or reduce the available output. The wide negative mains tolerance of the MicorStick 200 helps on long extension cables, but cable cross-section should still be chosen for the expected input current.

As with any MMA set, the electrode holder and earth cable cross-section should match the current, and the electrodes should be stored and, where required, redried according to the electrode manufacturer’s instructions.

Documents and quotation

The attached Lorch datasheet covers the MicorStick 160, 180 and 200 and the battery option. For a quotation, state the control panel, cable lengths and whether a TIG valve torch is required. Other machines are listed under stick welding machines.

About brand

Lorch Schweißtechnik is a German welding equipment manufacturer based in Auenwald, Germany, and the company was founded in 1957. It builds MIG-MAG, TIG and electrode welding machines for manual work as well as cobot and automated welding solutions. Seven Star LLC is an independent supplier in Muscat and lists the Lorch S8 SpeedPulse XT MIG-MAG pulse welding machine.

Lorch product range

The MIG-MAG program includes the S, P, R, MX, iQS and MicorMIG series, with separate wire feeders such as the MF-10 full-protection feeder. Lorch also offers TIG and MMA inverters, Powermaster torches, the Lorch Connect monitoring system and cobot welding packages. Its Speed processes, including SpeedPulse XT, SpeedArc XT and the optional SpeedRoot and SpeedCold upgrades, are designed to raise welding speed and reduce spatter.

Ordering Lorch welding machines: what we need

State the series and model, the machine version (compact or separate wire feeder), gas or water cooling and the mains voltage at site. Add the hose package length, torch type and any process upgrades you need. For replacements, send the rating plate photo.
