Industrial Scientific GasBadge Pro Single-Gas Monitor
Description
Overview
The Industrial Scientific GasBadge Pro is a lightweight personal single-gas monitor that uses interchangeable “smart” sensors. One instrument body can be adapted to watch for oxygen deficiency or enrichment, or for any one of eleven toxic gases – carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, chlorine, chlorine dioxide, phosphine, ammonia, hydrogen cyanide, hydrogen, and CO with low hydrogen interference. Weighing about 85 g, the Industrial Scientific GasBadge Pro is small enough to clip to a collar or helmet strap and forget until it alarms.
Unlike disposable single-gas badges, the Industrial Scientific GasBadge Pro is a fully configurable instrument with standard STEL and TWA readings, at least a year of data logging and an event logger. Seven Star LLC supplies it to oil and gas operators, chemical plants, water utilities and industrial contractors across the Sultanate of Oman and the GCC, with engineering support in Muscat for sensors, batteries and docking equipment.
Sensing Principle of the Industrial Scientific GasBadge Pro
Each gas version is built around an electrochemical sensor, in which the target gas reacts at a sensing electrode and generates a small current proportional to concentration. Because the sensors are interchangeable “smart” units, the instrument can be quickly adapted to a different gas by swapping the sensor rather than buying a new monitor, which protects the investment when site hazards change. Measuring ranges on the Industrial Scientific GasBadge Pro include CO 0–1,500 ppm, H2S 0–500 ppm in 0.1 ppm steps, O2 0–30% by volume, NO2 and SO2 0–150 ppm, chlorine 0–100 ppm, phosphine 0–10 ppm and hydrogen 0–2,000 ppm.
The monitor calculates short-term exposure limit (STEL) and time-weighted average (TWA) values as standard, so it can serve both as an alarm device and as an exposure record for industrial hygiene. User-selectable low and high alarm levels let each site apply its own thresholds, and a peak reading indication shows the highest concentration seen. A “Go/No Go” display mode gives a clear status to supervisors at a glance.
Engineering Design of the Industrial Scientific GasBadge Pro
The housing is a rugged, water-resistant polycarbonate shell with a protective concussion-proof overmold, third-party certified to IP64 and resistant to radio-frequency interference. It measures about 3.7 x 2 x 1.1 in. The custom LCD combines graphical icons and a segmented display for direct gas readings, and a backlight helps in low light. Alarms are delivered through ultra-bright LEDs, a 95 dB audible alarm and a vibrating alarm. Four-button navigation gives direct access to set-up, operation and calibration functions.
A user-replaceable 3 V CR2 lithium battery gives a typical run time of 2,600 hours. Communication runs through an infrared interface to the DSX Docking Station, the GasBadge Datalink and an infrared printer, which simplifies calibration, bump testing and data download. The event logger is always on and records the last 15 alarm events with how long ago each occurred, its duration and the peak reading. The Industrial Scientific GasBadge Pro operates typically from -40 °C to 60 °C and from 0% to 99% relative humidity, non-condensing.
Every Industrial Scientific GasBadge Pro is delivered with an attached suspender clip, a calibration adapter and tubing, and operating instructions. Optional accessories listed by the manufacturer include a neck lanyard with safety release, single and two-unit nylon carrying cases, replacement water and dust sensor barriers, a dedicated calibration cup and a CO breath sampler, so a site can build a complete kit around the monitor from one source.
Key Features
Reasons safety teams specify the Industrial Scientific GasBadge Pro include:
- Interchangeable smart sensors for oxygen or one of eleven toxic gases.
- Standard STEL and TWA calculation for exposure monitoring.
- At least one year of continuous data logging plus a 15-event alarm logger.
- Ultra-bright LEDs, 95 dB audible alarm and vibration alert.
- Typical 2,600-hour run time on a user-replaceable CR2 lithium battery.
- Rugged, RFI-resistant polycarbonate shell with concussion-proof overmold, rated IP64.
- Wide typical operating range from -40 °C to 60 °C.
- Infrared link to DSX docking, Datalink software and infrared printer.
Industrial Applications
In Oman the Industrial Scientific GasBadge Pro is commonly specified as the personal H2S monitor for sour-gas production, gas gathering and treatment plants, as well as an oxygen monitor for nitrogen purging and inert entry work. Chlorine and chlorine dioxide versions suit desalination and water treatment plants, ammonia versions suit fertiliser and refrigeration facilities at Sur and Sohar, and phosphine versions are used for fumigation at ports and grain stores. Its broad typical temperature range is helpful for crews working outdoors through the summer.
For a combined view of oxygen, LEL and toxic gases, the GasBadge Pro is often paired with a multi-gas unit such as the Industrial Scientific Ventis Pro5 multi-gas monitor or the Dräger X-am 2500 multi-gas detector, while H2S personal monitoring can also be met with the Crowcon Gasman single gas detector. Seven Star LLC supplies the Industrial Scientific GasBadge Pro, its smart sensors, cases and docking stations to customers in Muscat, Duqm, Salalah and across the GCC, with engineering support.

About brand
Before anyone enters a vessel or breaks a flange, somebody checks the air with a gas monitor. Industrial Scientific, founded in 1985 in Pittsburgh, USA, concentrates on that job: portable gas detection and monitoring for workers and work areas. Seven Star LLC sources and supplies Industrial Scientific gas detectors and accessories for refineries, plants and contractors in Oman and the GCC.
Industrial Scientific monitors listed
Three instruments are on this page. The Ventis Pro5 is a personal multi-gas monitor that, according to the manufacturer, reads up to five gases at once, has man-down and panic alarms, an optional pump and LENS wireless links between instruments. The MX6 iBrid is a multi-gas monitor for a larger sensor set. The Radius BZ1 is an area monitor, placed at a work site to watch the surrounding air.
Ordering Industrial Scientific gas monitors: what we need
These instruments are built to order around a sensor list. State each gas you need, for example LEL, O2, CO and H2S, and the LEL sensor type if your site standard names one. Say whether a pump is required, which battery, and the approval marking your site accepts. Add chargers, docking stations and test gas fittings if needed. For spare sensors, send the instrument model, its serial number and the sensor part number.
