Industrial Scientific Tango TX1 Single-Gas Monitor
Description
Overview
The Industrial Scientific Tango TX1 is a single-gas personal monitor that is always on and runs for up to two years on one replaceable battery, depending on operating conditions. Its defining feature is DualSense technology: instead of one sensor, the Industrial Scientific Tango TX1 uses two sensors to detect the same gas, so a failed or poisoned cell does not leave the wearer unprotected. Versions are available for hydrogen sulfide, carbon monoxide, CO with low hydrogen interference, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, ammonia and hydrogen cyanide.
For sour-gas operations in Oman, where H2S is the most common acute hazard, a reliable personal H2S monitor is basic safety equipment for every person on site. Seven Star LLC supplies the Industrial Scientific Tango TX1 in all standard gas versions to operators and contractors throughout the Sultanate and the wider GCC, with engineering support from our Muscat office for docking stations, replacement batteries and accessories.
How DualSense Works in the Industrial Scientific Tango TX1
Each instrument contains two electrochemical sensors for its target gas. Because two independent sensors watch the same gas, a single sensor that drifts or stops responding no longer leaves the wearer without detection; the second sensor is still there to see the hazard. This redundancy is protected by patent (No. 9,000,910) and is intended to increase worker safety compared with a conventional single-sensor monitor, which matters most on an always-on instrument that a worker may wear every shift for a long time.
Electrochemical sensors produce a current in proportion to the concentration of the target gas reacting at the electrode. On the Industrial Scientific Tango TX1 the hydrogen sulfide range is 0 to 500.0 ppm in 0.1 ppm increments, carbon monoxide 0 to 1,000 ppm in 1 ppm increments, nitrogen dioxide and sulfur dioxide 0 to 150.0 ppm, ammonia 0 to 500 ppm and hydrogen cyanide 0 to 30 ppm. Gas alerts can be acknowledged by the user, which helps reduce alarm fatigue during known low-level exposures.
Engineering Design of the Industrial Scientific Tango TX1
The housing measures 99 x 51 x 35 mm and weighs 126 g. The case top is polycarbonate with a protective rubber overmold and the case bottom is conductive polycarbonate; the instrument is rated IP66/67. A segment LCD and two buttons keep operation simple. Alarms combine three strobe-emitting LEDs (two red and one blue), a 100 dB audible alarm at 10 cm and a vibration alarm. The optional AlarmAmp accessory increases the audible alarm to 110 dB for very noisy environments such as compressor houses and drilling rigs.
Power comes from a 3.6 V primary lithium-thionyl chloride battery (1.5 Ah, 2/3 AA) that is user-replaceable but not rechargeable. Because both the battery and the sensors can be replaced, the instrument itself carries the manufacturer’s Guaranteed for Life warranty for as long as it is supported, while CO and H2S sensors are warranted for three years. The Industrial Scientific Tango TX1 logs three months of data at 10-second intervals plus 60 alarm events, and it works with the DSX Docking Station for automated bump testing and calibration.
Accessories listed by the manufacturer include soft nylon cases in black or safety orange, dust and water barrier kits, a calibration cup and tubing kit, a suspender clip, replacement batteries and coloured nameplates in black, green, yellow, blue and white. Coloured nameplates are a simple way to separate instruments by crew, contractor or gas type when a large fleet is issued at a gate house.
Key Features
Important features of the Industrial Scientific Tango TX1 include:
- DualSense technology with two sensors on the same gas for higher reliability.
- Always-on operation with up to two years of run time on a replaceable lithium battery.
- Seven gas versions: CO, H2S, NO2, SO2, NH3, HCN and CO/H2 low.
- Three strobe LEDs, a 100 dB audible alarm and vibration, with optional 110 dB AlarmAmp.
- Acknowledgeable gas alerts for managing low-level exposure warnings.
- Compact 126 g body with IP66/67 protection and conductive case bottom.
- Three months of data logging and a 60-event alarm log.
- Compatibility with DSX docking stations for automated maintenance and records.
Industrial Applications
The H2S version of the Industrial Scientific Tango TX1 is the natural choice for personnel at sour oil and gas fields, gas processing trains, sulfur recovery units, well testing and workover rigs, and produced water facilities across Oman. CO versions are used around furnaces, boilers and enclosed vehicle areas, while SO2, NH3 and HCN versions cover specific process and fertiliser plant risks. Because the battery lasts so long and the monitor never switches off, the Industrial Scientific Tango TX1 is easy to issue to visitors and contractors without daily charging routines.
When a job also needs oxygen and LEL measurement, crews add a multi-gas instrument such as the Industrial Scientific Ventis Pro5 multi-gas monitor or Dräger X-am 8000, and spot-check hazards with Dräger hydrogen sulfide detector tubes. Seven Star LLC supplies the Industrial Scientific Tango TX1, its docking stations and accessories to sites in Muscat, Sohar, Duqm and Salalah, backed by engineering support.

About brand
Before anyone enters a vessel or breaks a flange, somebody checks the air with a gas monitor. Industrial Scientific, founded in 1985 in Pittsburgh, USA, concentrates on that job: portable gas detection and monitoring for workers and work areas. Seven Star LLC sources and supplies Industrial Scientific gas detectors and accessories for refineries, plants and contractors in Oman and the GCC.
Industrial Scientific monitors listed
Three instruments are on this page. The Ventis Pro5 is a personal multi-gas monitor that, according to the manufacturer, reads up to five gases at once, has man-down and panic alarms, an optional pump and LENS wireless links between instruments. The MX6 iBrid is a multi-gas monitor for a larger sensor set. The Radius BZ1 is an area monitor, placed at a work site to watch the surrounding air.
Ordering Industrial Scientific gas monitors: what we need
These instruments are built to order around a sensor list. State each gas you need, for example LEL, O2, CO and H2S, and the LEL sensor type if your site standard names one. Say whether a pump is required, which battery, and the approval marking your site accepts. Add chargers, docking stations and test gas fittings if needed. For spare sensors, send the instrument model, its serial number and the sensor part number.
