Endress+Hauser Promag H 10 Hygienic Electromagnetic Flowmeter

Description

Endress+Hauser Promag H 10 hygienic electromagnetic flowmeter

The Endress+Hauser Promag H 10 is a hygienic electromagnetic flowmeter for basic sanitary applications. It targets food, beverage and life-science lines with conductive liquids, where the meter must be cleaned in place and resist steam. The Promag H 10 has a stainless steel sensor housing designed to 3-A and EHEDG requirements, a PFA liner and CIP/SIP-capable wetted parts, and the same simple operating concept used throughout the Promag 10 range. Seven Star LLC supplies the Promag H 10 in Oman and the GCC as an independent supplier in Muscat and quotes it from the line size and connection you need.

In the technical information the sensor is offered from DN 2 to DN 25 (1/12 to 1 inch) as standard, and from DN 15 to 150 (1/2 to 6 inch) with sensor option CI, which gives a wider range of hygienic sizes in a single product family.

Measuring principle and signal handling in the Promag H 10

The sensor applies a magnetic field across the pipe, and conductive liquid flowing through it induces a voltage that is proportional to velocity. Two electrodes in a PFA liner pick up the voltage, and the transmitter calculates volume flow from the cross-section. Pressure, density, temperature and viscosity do not enter the calculation. The measurement is bidirectional. The minimum conductivity is 5 µS/cm for liquids in general and 20 µS/cm for demineralised water, and the typical velocity range is 0.01 to 10 m/s.

Promag H 10 performance and materials

The standard flow error is ±0.5 % of reading ±1 mm/s, with an optional ±0.2 % of reading ±2 mm/s version, and the measuring range spans 0.06 dm³/min to 600 m³/h. The medium temperature is −20 to +150 °C, the process pressure rating is PN 40, Class 150 or 20K, and the liner is PFA with electrodes in 1.4435 (316L) or Alloy C22. Connections can be stainless steel 1.4404 (F316L), PVDF or a PVC adhesive sleeve, and seals are aseptic moulded types in EPDM, FKM or silicone.

Choosing the Promag H 10 process connection and options

Match the connection to the plant standard: clamp, dairy fittings or flanges are shown in the document, and the seal material should suit the cleaning chemicals and temperatures. If your pipe is plastic, check the grounding method in the installation chapter. Communication options are HART, Modbus RS485 and IO-Link, and the transmitter can carry an optional display. The ambient range is −40 to +60 °C without a display and narrower with one; IP66/67, Type 4X applies.

Installing the Promag H 10 and cleaning the line

Mount the meter in a pipe that stays filled, preferably in a rising section, and avoid the highest point of the line. Provide inlet and outlet runs as the installation chapter describes, and support the sensor on the pipe, not the housing. During CIP and SIP the rated −20 to +150 °C process range and the seal material limits must be respected. The SmartBlue app uses Bluetooth with an access code and key for commissioning, and the write-protection switch under the display lock protects the settings.

Where the Promag H 10 fits in Oman and GCC plants

Dairies, juice and water-bottling plants, breweries, pharmaceutical packaging and cosmetic producers in the region use hygienic magmeters for ingredient transfer, product filling control and CIP supply verification. The compact stainless body copes with washdown and with high summer temperatures in unconditioned halls. For potable water and general utility lines, the Promag D 10 or Promag W is a better fit.

Promag H 10 versus other hygienic magmeters

The Promag H 10 is the basic version of the hygienic Promag H line; the Promag H 100, H 300 and H 500 add more outputs, higher accuracy options and larger displays. If you need only flow with a simple signal and optional digital link, the H 10 keeps cost and complexity low. If you need density, concentration or advanced diagnostics, look at a Coriolis meter such as the Promass S 100 instead.

Information to send with a Promag H 10 RFQ

  • Fluid, conductivity, temperature and cleaning regime
  • Line size and hygienic connection standard
  • Flow range and accuracy class (standard or ±0.2 %)
  • Output type and power supply
  • Seal material and hygienic approvals needed
  • Quantity and delivery location

Site conditions in Oman for the Promag H 10

Field instruments in Oman are exposed to strong sun, high ambient temperature, wind-blown dust and, on coastal plants, salt in the air. When you specify the Promag H 10, check the ambient and process temperature limits, the enclosure rating and the wetted and housing materials against the actual installation point, and consider sunshades for transmitters mounted in direct sunlight. Cable entries should be sealed with suitable glands so that dust and moisture cannot enter the housing.

Calibration and verification planning matters as much as selection. Record the range, configuration and tag data of each Promag H 10 at commissioning, define a check interval that suits the criticality of the loop, and keep the certificates with the plant documentation so that audits and shutdown work can proceed without delay.

Where Endress+Hauser instruments are used

In Oman and the GCC, Endress+Hauser instruments are common in oil and gas production and processing, refineries and petrochemicals, desalination and water networks, wastewater treatment, power plants and food and beverage plants. Coriolis meters measure hydrocarbon and chemical flows, electromagnetic meters cover water and wastewater, radar transmitters handle tank and silo level, and Liquiline analysers monitor water quality. Proline 300 and 500 flowmeters include Heartbeat Technology for in-situ verification, which reduces the need to remove a meter for checks.

Ordering Endress+Hauser instruments: what we need

The order code on the nameplate (for example PMP71-1QA1S11RDADU) defines every option: measuring range, process connection, materials, output, approvals and display. Send it with the serial number; Endress+Hauser can retrieve the original configuration from the serial number. For a new instrument add the medium, operating and design pressure and temperature, range, line size or tank geometry, process connection, wetted materials, output or protocol (4-20 mA HART, PROFIBUS, FOUNDATION Fieldbus, Modbus) and the hazardous-area approval required. Older models such as Promass 80/83 or Micropilot M are replaced by current Proline or 80 GHz Micropilot devices.
